Serendipity - or Man on a Mission

I read a post the other day about "leaving the house knowing what I want to shoot" - unless you have a wedding, or portrait session, I think this attitude will rob you of great pictures, and the world of great images ! This has been the biggest lesson I have learned from getting a decent camera - "seeing" things in every day - At lunchtime, I hunt for new bird species in the neighborhood where I work, and find odd things everywhere ! To paraphrase Sinatraman - "Serendipity, be a lady tonite "

Your photos are interesting. As to planning. There are as many methods of approach to photography as there are photographers.
Because of the way my mind works if I dont plan what I am basiclly (spelling) looking for I just wander and actually will probably do very little.
Of course I am 75 years old and set in my ways. I am not in conflict with you only stating my different approach.
If you enjoy the results of your work do not let anybody sway you from your path.

Thanks for the refence but i believe i said "I did it serendipity's way!" I stopped going out with a specific taarget in mind say flowers instead i may go out with a goal of texture or geometric shapes or color. Alot of the times its whatever catches my eye. Lately ive been focusing on down stuff on the ground at my feet. potholes cracked cement, strange markings on the road and sidewalk etc we tend to shoot 95% of our photos at eye level. learn to change your perspective and much photo oportunities open up to you. One of the many lessons I learned from "learning to see creatively" by Bryan Peterson. A book I highly recomend (available at amazon.com new and used.) here are some examples of my work that i credit My petersons books with influencing.

Had to smile when seeing the Weed growing.....I also notice things like that in my travels. Love yours!
Love to see others enjoy the "little" funny things right before our eyes that most don't even see.

I agree with Sinatraman. Bryan Peterson has been a major influence in my photography. Bryan's learned observations are very helpful and help you to see what you not seen before.
