I'm still learning some of the most basic parts of Digital Photography and find myself sometimes stumped on certain terms etc. Sometimes one of you might reference something here on the forum and it would help to be able to grab a book and look it up.
Any suggestions would be of great help in these circumstances.
Thanks.

Sometimes it's faster and you get more opinions by just googling your question.

Blue Crane Digital In Brief cards are amazing quick field guide reference cards for the operations of your camera. They're made specifically for each camera model. They're compact, laminated and have practically your whole user manual on them! I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, or if you're more interested in general terms like depth of field, etc. If the later, I have no suggestions!

How about a David Busch Field Guide for whatever model camera you use. He gives excellent explanations and user tips.

If you have a smart phone, another option to consider is throwing a PDF copy of your camera's manual on the phone.

Bryan F. Peterson has a series of excellent books. He is an excellent teacher as well and has short tutorial videos. www.ppsop.com

The David Busch Field Guides (by specific camera) are excellent. The Digital Photography Book series by Scott Kelby (4 volumes)is very good(the first volume is really good for beginners.) Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Exposure" is considered a classic reference.

I have approx. $3500 worth of books on the subject. If I had to limit myself to one book only, it would be COMPLETE DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY by Ben Long.

I second the David Busch guides. Even though they weigh a ton, I drag it around many times. Often I just take it with me to peruse when I have an appointment that I have to wait for, etc. There is so much in it - all good - that I am always re-reading chunks. Considering how much time I spend online looking at photog stuff, I am surprised how often I just default to the Busch book. Worth every penny.

I think the best is Scott Kelby's book and besides he's a comedian. Start with book one on basic's and his latest is now available at Costco for 13$,which is more advanced.
