Wait for the grey market one. I bought a brand new grey 70-300 mm Nikkor from Adorama 4.5-5.6 for about 139$ and checked its performance against my 80-200 mm Nikkor 2.8. The difference was imperceptible, except maybe if you blew it up to 18x24. The mark-ups on lenses are obviously enormous. You're paying triple for a U.S. warranty which you'll probably never need. You could have bought if for $119.00 at B&H and I'm just going to guess that's what you paid at Adorama as well. Generally you'll only save about 10% buying grey market over USA. As for your 70-300mm it come's in a couple configurations and the one you chose is the entry level version. Nothing wrong with that but you just need to be aware of the differences when comparing prices. You may have compared yours with the ED G VRII version which goes for closer to $600.
