It's how you say it or your bedside manner! It's ok to tell someone to look it up using the SEARCH function just say it nicely ok. I think JR1 likes to be abrupt with the folks on this site that ask questions that have been answered many times before maybe he feels superior to those asking for what reason I don’t know, he does this all the time could it be arrogance or just some complex issue he has?

I wouldn't be scared off from asking questions. I didn't think Jr1 was being rude or trying to be rude he was trying to be helpful. Then a comment was made ans I felt it was extremely rude, name calling and all which is totally uncalled for. It it in human nature people become defensive and like to voice their opinions and stand their ground. It's really simple though.... If you don't want advice...DON'T ASK!!!

I asked questions before and got the same reply like JR1 replied, I followed the advise and ended up reading and watching videos for hours, not to mention that I found (with the help of others) some really great websites and learned more than I even asked for.

I'm relatively new to this site. I've been reading replies to questions now for about a month. As an amateur and as someone who retired not so long ago, I thought I'd pursue my love of photography now that I have time. Although I've looked forward to reading daily posts from this site, I've definitely been scared away from asking questions after reading this latest squabble. I'm sure just about every photography-related question has been asked! What's so wrong with having it answered again. Maybe someone new to the site will have a different or better perspective. Heck, why have the site at all if you can find it elsewhere on the net, in magazines, at the library, etc.?

I don't know JR1 is a different type of member than we are used to; maybe we should be more tolerant and just give him the benefit of the doubt. Some of his points I don't agree with but he has a right to his opinion and I hope no new member would be scared off by abrupt replies.

Like I said I'm glad JR is not my Doctor because I would run run run.... I agree some of the questions are very repetitive, but not everyone is the same, nor as knowledgeable as some of the members on here, But I always thought this was a place someone could ask questions and share with and relate with others. Not everyone knows what was said two days much less 2 months , two years ago on here. Maybe they just want some help and it would be nice if someone knew the answer, instead of reading SEARCH for it or look here..... Reading what JR has written in here I do understand him somewhat, but if members don't want to answer the question and instead answer with Search for it here, maybe they should not answer at all or be nicer about it. I only know of one GOD not two, SO maybe the bedside manors should be nicer.

I think this is exactly what he is looking for is to get people started so he can sit back and watch everyone talk about him and get all defensive towards him. He probably gets a kick out of it. Either way he can get reported to the administrator maybe they can do something about him. This is a friendly environment.

Yes, but we all come from different backgrounds and maybe his is different, I say give him the benefit of the doubt, I am sure he means well and just comes across wrong to some of us.

  What these "Whaa, Whaaa! that nasty man was mean to me" types don't seem get is that certain questions get a lot of overuse on a technical forum of this type. After seeing the same question pop up weekly, daily and sometimes twice in one day I personally start seeing a person obviously in need but due to a misguided conception of "self-entitlement" are too lazy to do a "search" on this forum, Google, a library book or heaven forbid their camera's manual. No! A puzzle pops into their heads and they start typing, worse sometimes they hijack some other thread because learning how to start a thread of their own is too much trouble!

Oh really and I guess people like you that can't seem to keep their mouths shut aren't highjacking the thread either huh. You can choose to read the question and give a simple answer or point in the right direction or you can keep your mouth shut and let the ones that want to help do just that. It sounds to me that you are going whaa whaa instead sucking it up and driving on as we used to say in the military. Oh and this site is not that technical bit it is supposed to be fun for others to share and seek advice.

does anyone have any advice or tips on the following cleaning areas: 1 cleaning lenses 2 drying lenses: i live in a humid region and often when i take a lense out of its case it 'foggs up' and because of the humidity, is very hard to dry. 3 cleaning the sensor. cleaning gear is something i should do more often but it is usually 'forgotten' in the enthusiasm to get out and take photos...

Fool proof method for cleaning your sensor (IF YOUR TOO LAZY TO DO A SEARCH) is, Remove the lens, take the body outside. Turn the faucet on the garden hose on full. Point the hose (with squeeze handle off), point hose with handle into the opening where the lens goes, and squeeze the handle so the water shoots full force into the opening. If that does not clean that speck off your sensor then maybe you shoud send it in for a professional cleaning. hth ! ;)
