Please enjoy, especially if you live where winter is still holding a firm grip, and please critique. The winds have been wild, crazy, and incessant - which as limited optimum photographic opportunities. I love the little yellow-billed cardinals, but the wind was buffeting me so much and the ISO I think was too high. I don't have noise reduction software, but am considering noise ninga and am wondering if it would help those images. Aloha and Mahalo!

Beautiful, Kerfree, thank you for the brief glimpse of the world outside Vermont! I love the Cluster of orchids - that dark technique is really nice. What were your settings? I grow orchids and can't stop photographing them - should I be taking them outdoors at night to get this lighting?

Thank you so much Skydanser - we are bracing ourselves for the return to Maine and still more than a foot of snow... But hang in - spring is a'comin! Right?

For the orchid shots I used f2.8, ISO 400 (the shade was pretty deep) and adjusted the speed as needed. I don't think you want to be taking your orchids outside yet - they'll freeze! Perhaps a piece of black velvet or other dark background would accomplish the same affect. Good luck and please pm me when you post the results, so I don't miss them!

How sweet, Kerry! I'm not seeing any noise in the first photo of the birds. I can see just a little in the second, but I'm afraid if you use a noise reduction program on the birds themselves you're going to risk losing detail. Are you seeing noise in any part of the picture besides the background? You could remove the noise in the background and not the birds. Gosh! That's no help at all LOL Send me a PM and let me know what you want to do, and I'll help you the best I can. I do think your pictures are absolutely beautiful without anything else done though.

Donna, thank you!!! And I have a
question for you, as one of my favorite bird photographers and an expert editor ;) - could those yellow beaked cardinals
be improved with Noise Ninja? I don't have it yet, but.... :)

Donna, thank you for taking another look and advising me. I am going to have to put those dear little yellow-billed cardinal on the back burner for now, but will revisit it once I get home and caught up at work. Your birds are so over-the-top gorgeous - I'll use anything you use :)

What beautiful shots! And I think the wind added to the charm of those last couple. Loved the sea spray, the cardinal was great. So many good shots I could never pick a favorite. Great work and thanks for sharing.
