I'm thinking about getting a FF I currently have a cannon
550d, 24-70, 50 1.8, 18-270 and 75-300. Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated. I like shooting babies, small kids, dogs, flowers. Thanks in advance.

I've heard good things about the 6D.

I agree with Wendy. I have a friend who is replacing her old 5D with a 6D. We looked at the specs and it appears to be a winner for her. You won't be able to use your 18-270, but the others should be ok.

I have a 5DII also and the prices keep going down but....

The BIGGEST drawback to the II is the crappy focusing system...the AF on the 5DII is the worst...the 5DIII is a HUGE step up in accuracy (the 5DII has ONE cross type focus point and 10 non-cross, the III has 61 AF points (41 cross-type at f/4, 5 dual-diagonal at f/2.8) which is a HUGE advantage when focusing...I'm going to switch to the III for that feature alone (when the price comes down)

The 6D has the following:

11 AF points:

Center: cross-type at f/5.6; vertical line-sensitive at f/2.8.

Upper and lower AF points: vertical line-sensitive AF at f/5.6.

Other 8 AF points: Horizontal line-sensitive AF at f/5.6.

So it's sort of "in the middle" of the 5DII and the 5DIII.

I have the 5D MKII which I use mainly for landscapes and portraiture. Yeah, the autofocus is a little slow so I picked up a Canon refurbished 7D for sports and action shots. If I had the scratch, I'd probably get a 5D MK III. That said, I'm waiting on a Sony RX-1 full frame so I don't have to lug around a whole bag of gear every time I go out.

A lot depends on how deep your pockets are. The 6D is a solid entry level FF body. Not sure why you cant to go FF, because the 7D is one of the best bodies on the market and you can get one for $1,000, or less. With 19 focus points it blows out the Mark ii. Here's a video comparing the 6d to the 7d. You decide.... I have a 7d and love it. Would not upgrade to a 6D or Mark ii. Mark iii would be a choice if I had and extra $3,000http://www.youtube.com/v/xPKI5dv6phA&fs=1&source=uds&autoplay=1

Why not consider a 5D Mk II. They've come way down in price and many people are using them. The 6D isn't full frame. I think you can get the 5D II for under $1800 - less if you shop around or consider a pre owned body.
