I have to share my field trip!

A park in Merrick, NY built on top of a dump! The landfill has been turned into a preserve on the south shore with a Vita Walk and outstanding views. I used both my old rebel with a Tamaron 300mm lens and my new Powershot SX50. I can't wait for spring to see the difference in flora and wild life!

Hey Steenowitz,

First three for me are the best. Good compositions and colors lend to a greater interest and movement. Last set doesn't carry the same weight of topic, i.e. where do I look, what's the most important thing in the frame? The sandpiper is good, but the angle makes the character in play blend in too much. Maybe a shot more in profile would have worked better. Keep going on field trips so we can all enjoy!

Thank you for that, jeez this is refreshing. You forced me took look at them completely differently, I am inspired! In my defense though, I had no idea pipers move like cockroaches, hard little bugger to catch. Thank you for the input, I am indeed searching out another field trip :)

I like them all, but the one with the Empire State Bldg. is interesting to me. It's out of focus, but it has an old feel about it. Sort of looks like a steamy New York day from the past. And the bird just adds to it.

#2 is my favorite! Love that one. I also like the Empire State bldg. The grain and shimmery look + the color. Very interesting!
