The Zippo :) I wanted to create a photograph of the great American Icon that was different, this is what I ended up with :)

Interesting image! I vividly recall the the sounds of those being opened and closed, along with the spin of the wheel, robust spark, and the smell when lit. Until Bic lighters came along, every smoker had a Zippo. I wonder what landfill mine is lying in? I quit smoking a long, long time ago.
Hi MJL :-)Believe it or not the history of the cigarette lighter can be quite fascinating, At the same time as the Zippo, we had the Tommy. We never see a Tommy now, but Zippo are available everywhere. The Sherman tank WW2 was called by the Germans the " Tommy Cooker" and by the British the Ronson Lighter as per the Ronson slogan "Lights up everytime" thanks for replying

Fascinating capture.
We had USAF Burtonwood; largest supply depot in Europe not to far from where I live. I bet a good few of those are still to be found around there.
Many a good lass moved to America after meeting Mr. Yanky Doodle there.
