I just saw an image submitted by a Sony with Minolta lens. I believe it was in the 105 range. I'd take a look at the Tokina.

Several different lenses will work on your Sony/Minolta mount camera. We have macro-photographers using Tokina, Sigma, Tamron, etc., which are lens manufacturers who build auto-lenses with mounts for different primary camera makes. Take a look at images posted by various Macro Forum members, then view their equipment in the "Set-Ups" thread.

You can find on eBay, availability & cost of a specific lens with a specific mount (Sony/Minolta).

I have a Tamron SP Di 90mm 1:2.8 Macro 1:1 on a Canon 60D that I truly enjoy for it's versatility Macro to portraits.
