hello I'm new here I would like to share some of my photos or just meet interesting people I'm a using a Sony DSC HX1 some times I debates about get getting a SLR but I get good result with this camera.

Hi Claire and welcome to the forum. Your photo has a good separation between subject and background and is composed nicely by allowing for more space in the direction the bird is facing. Well done, post more. 8-)

Welcome Claire. With an SLR you might have gotten a tack sharp photo. This one is great and is one to be proud of but the focus is just off every so slightly. I say this because if you were to enter this photo into a contest that is the first thing judges would probably say(the focus tack sharp on the eye of the bird). If this is just a hobby for you then it doesn't matter that it's not tack sharp and what matters is that you like it. So keep it up and it doesn't completely matter what kind of camera. What is the saying guys(I may have it wrong), "What matters most is the foot behind the camera/viewfiner." Something like that anyway.

Yes, you do get nice result's but don't put off thinking about a DSLR sometime in the future. And welcome!
