Hello everyone,

This is my first post, though I have been reading the UHH for a couple of years, and wanted to make my first question worthy of you all.

I have this picture of a Tiger that I photographed (Nikon 7200 with a Tamron 150-600) when I was in India. I would like to be able to remove the stick going up the middle of his face and maybe the second stick too. I have Lightroom 6.14, On1 2019.2 and Luminar 3, the last two as possible replacements for Lightroom since, at this time, I don't want to go to the subscription route.

So can this be done with the programs that I have, or it's too difficult to do with my experience level (a working knowledge of Lightroom and the other two I have just gotten and have not really used them yet), or worst case, I really need to use Photo Shop.
Hello everyone, br br This is my first post, tho... (show quote)

Did this using Photoshop Elements 14. Mostly clone stamp with very small selection brush. Not perfect, but if you had never seen the original, you might not notice the clone work

Very hard to say what went wrong without the evidence. I would suggest that you take some pictures that are not so difficult using settings on the camera that a light meter or other camera with meter say is right on. Have that developed and see what the results are. That way you can tell if it is the camera, or if the eclipse attempts were just using the wrong settings. K1000 is a very good, but all manual camera. I learned what little I know using one. It could be that the on camera meter is no giving you the correct readings.

Any suggestion for HDR software for an occasional user? That is - one that will not break the bank.

Thanks

Just installed a trial version of Lightroom that I have had for some time. Now I need to learn how to use it. Do any of you know of you know of any good videos or books that would help a very new user of Lightroom find his way around?

Thanks

I have some old 127 size film (image area = 1 5/8" square) that I would like to scan. I have an Epson V600 scanner that has holders for 35mm, both roll film and slides and one for medium format film, but not for 127. Does anyone know where I can find a holder for the 127 film? I tried Google with no success, and Epson's response was just make one out of cardboard. I can do that, but would rather have on out of plastic if I can find one.

Thanks,
Robert

I have Elements 9, but I don't see how to do this within that application. Can you explain, please?

I have a large (greater than 1000) number of .tiff images that I need to convert to .jpg. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to do that other than one at a time?

Does anyone know of a digital camera (not too expensive) that has the capability to hold the shutter open for a long night shot of the stars moving across the sky.

It could be Missouri. My great, great grandfather was born in 1791 and is buried in Dade County, MO. Just for information. I don't really know which state the original poster means.

Does this make any sense? I had a single image (.jpg) that was about the right exposure in the mid brightness areas, but too light in the sky and too dark in the foreground. I opened the image in Elements 9 as camera raw, adjusted the exposure for the sky and then opened it in Elements as .jpg., changed the file name and saved this version. Then I repeated the process and adjusted for the foreground. Opened all three images and clicked on file/photomerge exposure. Elements takes the best from the three and combines them into one. Worked pretty good for the image I tried, but it was not really far off to begin with. That is: the sky was not completely washed out and the foreground was not completely black. Any comments?

A quick question. I read someplace that one should turn off IS when using a tripod. Would that hold true for this type of images? Anyone have a comment?

If you have a later version of Elements (I have 9), then you can open the .jpg file as camera raw and you have some limited control of the white balance. You also have other controls that I find easier to adjust then the tools in Elements proper. To open in camera raw, you need to click File/save as. Then set the type to camera raw before you select the file you want to open. Once the type is set to Camera Raw, then select the desired file and click open. The file is opened in a whole new world with a number of options to select and adjust.

I agree with all those who suggest that you not do the photography at your son's wedding. My wife and I did weddings for over 20 years. We did both of our daughters and also our son. If I had it to do over, I would not have done any of them. We lucked out and did not have any big problems, but I feel like I missed all three weddings. I completely missed one daughters reception because I was putting equipment away in the church. Don't do it. I never did a wedding for anyone that I enjoyed. Too much work, too much stress.

But, if you insist, I have a list of suggested poses that I can send you. Give it to the bride and ask her to mark the ones she wants. Then get someone in her family to keep the list and prompt you as to what pose to take next. You will also need someone to round up the people for the next picture. Don't expect them to stand around waiting to be called. You will need a big strong voice in order to get everyone to pose for you. They are enjoying themselves, not listening to you.
