I assume Canon discontinued the lever method because the rubber cap is cheaper. However I’ve never had a problem hanging on to the cap because it threads thru the camera strap. I have a Rebel T6 but even my Maxxum 5000 did it the same way.

My wife said something about my old equipment. . .. .....but I don't hear as well as I used to.

LOL, me too but I’m divorced, I wonder if that had something to do with it. 😀

Great shots, love the “creamy bokeh” too.
I use my smart phone to activate my T6 remotely and it works great and you can view the shot right on the phone before taking it.

I was just wondering how many on this forum use old equipment for they hobby. I found if I buy older equipment I can save a ton of money and have just as much fun as if I purchased the latest gear. I love shooting birds and other animals but the latest gear would cost me 10,000 dollars. I use a used nikon D3 and a sigma 500mm f4.5 prime and together it cost less then the tax on a new
setup. Just something to think about.

I too am a believer in saving money with older equipment. My first slr was a Minolta Maxxum 5000 which I still have with 35-70mm zoom and a 1800AF flash. Took lots of great pics with that one. I upgraded to the Maxxum 7000 and 4000AF flash by buying used on eBay. Also several used lenses.
I decided to switch to Canon as Minolta was always “late to the party” and more expensive with digital slrs. Had a nice Rebel XTi and Speedlite 430EX but both were stolen. Now I have a factory refurbished Canon T6 2 lens kit bought directly from Canon and recently bought Canon 580EX-II speedlite on eBay. I also have a Canon 630 35mm and the special off-shoe cords for it and the OC-E3 cord for the T6.
Since I really can’t afford the latest greatest “Pro” equipment, definitely go the used and save money as everything I have takes great pictures. I get a chuckle out of the posts regarding f1.6 or f1.2 50mm lenses that while I am sure they have better glass and construction than the affordable f1.8, I wonder how often you really need the dof of the 1.6 or 1.2?

I had good luck freezing the wings at 1/2000, which was fastest film camera could support, I look forward to further experimentation now that I have a quality DSLR and no longer have to wait for developing.

Thanks for this information, I’m filling it away to use before a Grand Canyon trip some day in the future.

As is well known, the goal of any insurance company is to collect premiums and deny claims, as this maximizes the insurers profits.
I’m a bit confused about the comment about having any “homeowners” claim if you ever made money from sales of a photo. I would expect that if I was a professional, that I would be responsible to acquire appropriate business insurance for my business assets.

Gotta love snowbirds, we have them here too in AZ.
Looking forward to seeing MI pictures, weather has been rather unusual (even for Michigan) according to my relatives, you may get some late spring blooms even in May. Safe travels up I-75.

Remember when all good cameras came with nice leather cases?

Remember when lenses came with lens hood included?
I also remember the first maxxum cameras had a leather case with straps that snapped around the camera neck strap so you could remove the case where it covered the controls and lens, but kept the rest of the camera body protected.

Welcome to UHH.
Canon has a good deal on their T6 bundle with either 18-55mm alone or 2nd lens 75-300mm. I would get the factory refurbished equipment, should be able to get the 2 lens kit within your budget.
If you need other equipment like tripod and flash, check Amazon or eBay for bundles. If you are going to take indoor photos you’ll need something better than the built-in pop-up, but that can always be added later.
Again welcome aboard!
