Hello all, I have been a member here for a while now and rarely post on this forum but I always admire how kind and helpful other photographers are on here. I'll be going to a wedding in Durango, CO in a couple weeks and am doing a road trip (via car) from Palm Springs for approximately 10 days. We're hitting the following places: Palm Springs, CA, Joshua Tree, Flagstaff, AZ, Durango, CO, Pagosa Springs,CO, Telluride, CO, Farmington, NM, and Sedona, AZ.

Question: Do any of you have any suggestions of some unique places or hiking trails to photograph anywhere near these cities? I'm a wildlife / landscape / astro photographer and have already done quite a bit of research in the different areas but am open to any suggestions that you might have for me. Thank you, in advance!

You could add a stop at Monument Valley between Flagstaff and Durango.

Are there techniques that allow backing camera memory cards that *don’t require access to a computer*.

I prefer not to take my laptop on longish trip. I’m with using my iPad but it has very limited memory and would not get me much storage.

Thanks

When I travel and wifi is available, I upload to my iPad through a
card reader directly to my iCloud account.

I am searching for a company that prints calendars using one’s own photos at a reasonable price. Bay photo is a little pricey. Any leads would be appreciated. Thank you and Happy New Year. Fran

I have used iPhoto for years. Simply select photos from your Library, arrange them on the various template and publish with Motif. Cost for this year's family calendar was $29 plus shipping.

The Whitewater Draw Crane cam has been down. The barn it was attached to was damaged. You might call AZ Fish & Game.

I returned from a trip to the USA and Canada. We went hiking in the mountains. I had a Nikon d7500 camera. I felt that I should carry a lighter camera. I read about travel cameras on the internet. I would be happy to know from the experience of the people, what camera would you take for trips and in particular for hiking in the mountains??

My Nikon z50 and two kit lenses worked well throughout Switzerland last year.

You are correct in this analysis. The Z50 doesn't have IBIS and the lens in question doesn't have VR.

Here are the three Z mount DX zooms with VR that they offer now. None are constant aperture.

NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR
$309.95

NIKKOR Z DX 18-140mm f/3.5-6.3 VR
$639.95

NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR
$379.95

Thank you.

I have used this combination many times with no issues. Just remember than the lens does not have VR, and the camera does not have IBIS, but vibration reduction is usually not necessary for short telephoto ranges.

Thanks, I had not noticed the lack of VR.

I know the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S is a full frame lens. How, or will it work on my Z50?

My sister is going on a cruise and will not have access to the internet. She would like a program that she can use to create a photo book while she is offline on the cruise and when she gets home and online, she can upload the book and have it printed.
She has a Mac. She is going with a friend who has a PC and would like to be able to do the same thing. Is there a program you would recommend? Or one for the Mac and one for the PC? Lightroom would be way more than what she wants.

We upload photos to Mac Photos and copy photos to use in the book into an album. Select create, book in the dropdown menu. This takes you to Motif. Follow the directions and publish your book. We have had very good success with Motif.

I fell with my camera and the UV Filter was the only casualty. However, it jumped the thread in the area it hit the metal bleacher.
I've tried lots of stuff to no avail. The rubber can opener, channel locks, rubber band. Anyone had any luck getting the metal threaded ring off once it jumped a thread? The filter was completely shattered, so it is just the ring. I've thought of several things, but they all involve ruining the threads on the lens, which I'm trying to avoid. All ideas are welcome. Thx in advance

Fasten a zip tie around the filter ring and pull it tight. This applies equal pressure to the filter.

I'm not a professional photographer, but I enjoy learning more and improving my skills. I often ask folks if I can use their iPhone to take a photo for them. They are at the same place as I am to enjoy the area and capture memories.

Does anyone have any experience with this one? I look forward to reshooting some old favorites of mine with it.

I purchase this lens for my D7100 to photograph the aurora on a trip to Fairbanks a couple years ago. Great performance.

Is it safe to attach my FTZ adapter to my wide angle lens tor a trip? Is it best to separate? Will keeping them mounted cause any damage?
Thanks

My PowerBook died the day before leaving to shoot a 3 day event. Luckily I have a Dell laptop to get by while repairs are done.
Am curious about real life experiences using an iPad and Lightroom
How do you import images?
Can you store images on external drive?
Can you migrate catalog to a PowerBook and open in Lightroom Classic?
What are the serious limitations?

Would not be my normal operating mode but looking for a Plan B

I store photos in iCloud. When I upload images to my iPad they are automatically sent to my iCloud account when wifi is available.
