Congratulations Scott! (On another note, why get down on the guy. He was simply sharing good news. We all miss speak. Look past the words and look at the heart. And be sides, it is humbling to have even one follower! I'd be excited too and want to share the good news.)
A sand castle of a Christmas tree.
Santa is considering bring me the Tamron 150-600 g2. The lens comes with a bundle I like for $1299 from one place and a Promaster 25 Gimbal for $1299 from another place.
Question, is it worth getting the gimbal now because a tripod / monopod WILL be needed or can I buy time by getting the bundle and getting the tripod / monopod down the road because hand held is workable?
The promaster I think is a couple hundred dollars. Do I really need a gimbal like that, that is expensive when I am very much an amateur but would like to capture eagles, birds wildlife.......
Thank you in advance.

PhotoKurtz, great analogy! ha ha ha ha
This is a philosophical question and a good one at that! I discovered recently when trying to take a good picture on manual that there were so many parameters to recognize and set (TV, AV, ISO...) instantly before my subject (child) moved that that there are picture takers (me) and photographers (people like you)........I have utmost respect for photographers that people who do not use manual cameras do not realize what goes into a good picture.
As a 'student' of photography, I still enjoy the challenge and creativity of taking a picture that elicits emotion, tells a story or starts a conversation.......
I am a newbie also with a canon 80 D. I use elements and am very pleased. Also pain $150 for lightroom but there is a learning curve to go with it. I do not want to take so much time learning so I bought Corel Aftershot pro 3 and like it much better. Youtube and other tutorials are a big help but there is a learning curve with anything new. Whatever you choose, I suggest you just learn it well and stay with it. They all have strengths and weaknesses.
Thank you mas24 - happy thanksgiving!
Does anyone know anything about the new Tamron 100-400? It has been previewed at shows but is not available yet. Santa said she would consider the Canon 100-400 but the cost is a bit prohibited for someone who is just beginning photography. I have the Tamron 18-400, but was wondering if the Tam 100-400 is going to be worth buying. Thank you in advanced for your thoughts. Bob1912
