Old School Bricks and Mortar has its advantages. A camera in had is worth more than an Upgrade on a brown truck!

My husband and I had this very problem TWICE. The delivery was being made to a well-marked, place of employment, District Court House in our small town. There is no mistaking finding it. However, it was marked: Delivered. Upon calling, excuse was: Could not locate address!

I have high respect for these hardworking gents and ladies. It only takes a few to ruin the reputation for many.

Our solution: Have unit delivered to the nearest FedEx or UPS Store directly and have it held until you can pick it up. This presented no issues.

Yesterday, my bride and I took a walk along the river interior to the city. It was a gorgeous day and I wanted to share how lovely the city really is. These were taken with the Tamron 70-300 and while not all great shots, gives you a taste of our wonderful "other" water front. The park is the largest system in the U.S. and abounds with many wonderful and famous statues. Come visit us! Lots to do and see.
I hope you enjoy the downloads.

Bernie

Bernie,
First, it's always so nice to hear, "my bride and I" and I'm sure she loves that. Second, I love the photos. I like the entire set but I think my favorites are the statue honoring the native women and the young-ins! Great job! Nice to take photos at HOME, isn't it?!

On my bucket list are Australia/NZ, India, and a safari (all of which my parents have done), but my mom was a travel agent and have been to so many countries I probably will never come close to matching her. There are other places that would be cool too, like Thailand. Basically, I'd like to experience as many totally different cultures as possible.

Wow! You are definitely a person with goals! It's good to have those. Otherwise, time passes by too quickly. You certainly don't want to look back and have any regrets. Regrets are poisonous to your psyche. Hope you are able to find a way to get started on your next trip soon! Sounds exciting!

I think it said on the post. It was a Panasonic FZ-200 (Lumix) f/2.8 max aperture throughout its 25-600mm optical range (plus it has digital zoom), but the min is only f/8. 12MP so it's not a powerhouse, but there were baggage restrictions and I didn't think I could sacrifice the space and weight of extra clothes for a DSLR, a couple lenses, and maybe a portable tripod. I bought the camera used from a Hog in Nevada a few weeks before the trip...I think I paid like $200. It was my longest (days), farthest and most expensive trip. I hope to blow that record out of the water in the future, but the trips I want to go on cost an entire year's net pay!! Search my topics if you want to see more Israel pics. I think they're on page 2 or 3 of the search.

Planepics,
The camera purchase was a great decision. The record-setting trip must have been a wonderful experience. I'll search out your other pics. Your future trip goals sound phenomenal. Wish you the best.

Toni Girl: Having an *up-to-date* off-site backup is very important from a security concern. This concern also applies to backups with connected external drives, NAS and so forth. Ransomeware (and other malware) are serious threats these days. Ransomeware code, once in a system, can migrate to all connected drives, whether mapped or not, and to other PCs on the LAN. External drives used to back up files should be air-gapped as soon as the backup is complete. After I make a backup I disconnect the drive and put it in a fireproof safe.

I highly recommend that you (and others) subscribe to CyberHeistNews that can be found at https://www.knowbe4.com/cyberheistnews/. (It is an e-mail/web newsletter at no cost). Good info, today's edition contains info on disgusting hackers targeting folks who want to help Hurricane Harvey survivors in Texas.

Stan,
Thank you for responding. Your information is valuable. I will be checking out the cyber heist news. How people can live with themselves after taking advantage of others is something I truly hope to never understand! Thank you for the suggestion to "air gap" as I can certainly understand the value in doing so!

I don't use a program to organize my photos, exactly, but I do use one for backup. The software that came with my original camera uploaded to the computer in folders that were in the following order: Year/month/(date shot). I have a separate folder for each camera. My current camera software(s) allows me to continue this, but I must change the month when appropriate. However, these are all in a folder I called Archive, which in turn, is under photos. In these folders are the files SOOC. Also under photos are subjects such as birds, cars, wildlife, and so on. In these I put images AFTER post processing. Since the Exif data tells me date shot, I can always go back to the originals by date.

As for backup, I use SyncBack (a free version) to maintain a backup to an external 1 TB drive. I also keep photos on Smugmug, but this is a manual exercise.

PHRubin,
Sounds like you have a very organized system. I appreciate this information. I have not heard of SyncBack but will check it out. Smugmug is new to me as well. Thanks for taking your time to help me.

Storage and Organization can be done in the Pictures folder on Windows. But if you are also looking for an editing program, LR does it all. [Adobe CC subscription includes both LR and PS.] Free trial is available on the website if you want to try it out first.

Backup can be done with external hard drives [xHD], and so far the ones I have used all have built-in software for doing automatic backups on a schedule you set. All you have to do then is check periodically to see if they are getting full, and also do spot-checks to make sure they are still doing the backups. Any system can fail, which is why multiple backups are recommended.

I have heard good things about Backblaze, and am planning on setting up an account very soon.

Susan,
Thank you so much for this guidance. I plan to check out the free trial of LR. Have heard so many good things! Thanks for your explanation of your backup system and your time.

Nice. I went to Israel for 2 wks last year for my birthday. Only spent the first two and last nights in Tel Aviv. I went with
Overseas Adventure Travel and was at a kibbutz on the edge of the Sea of Galilee the day of my birthday. The markets are impressive...you could easily get lost! It was the hottest at the Dead Sea (104 in the shade). We spent 4 or 5 days in Jerusalem alone, where our guide was born.

Planepics,
Sounds wonderful even if brief! The Dead Sea is amazing, is it not? The heat, yes, is unbelievable but I loved the climate. The lack of humidity was a blessing to escape! Look forward to some pics! The Kibbutz life is just an amazing system to me.
Thanks for visiting!

Tikva,
Thank you ever so much. Yes, I commented on your beautiful picture from the balcony. I look forward to your Israel photos.
