I have about 10 batteries...many are over 3 years old (from my Canons pre-mirrorless)

Before a trip I charged them until green on charger. I then put in camera, and it shows 100%. On trip it fails after less than 2 hours of shooting.....then into controlled trash.

Any way to test real remaining life outside of the camera so that I might cull the weak batteries?

Thanks

Seems you already have a suitable test plan...if a battery doesn't last as long as you are used to...and you didn't change how the camera is being used, i.e. back display is always on, to account for the shorter shooting time then that battery is likely weak and due for replacement.

If you don't exit LR in the normal style/method then the ".lock" file isn't deleted by LR so you will have to delete it manually.

The normal style/method will depend on what platform you use - PC or MAC...

The Nikon z7ii is new to me (previously using a d750). The problem is that the colors are flat.

I wanted to attach a .nef file, but it is too large. How do you get around this? Meanwhile, I am attaching the jpg. Usually I get nice crisp colors, etc.

Thank you,

Michael

I few questions...is the jpg straight from the camera? What picture control setting in the camera do you use for the .jpg? For the .NEF files what program do you use for post-processing the RAW files (RAW files almost always look flat before post-processing). UHH has a ~20Meg file size limitation so attaching a RAW file from the Z7 isn't possible.

I do not like the mirrorless because I have a lot of Nikon lenses that I can’t use on them Also I believe the 850 is a workhorse and also easier on batteries

If the lens you have will work on the 850 they will also work on a Nikon mirrorless with the FTZ adapter. I have a D750 and 850 and I use their lens on my Z8.

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. This railroad is always a good and fun one to follow and photograph.

I did Google it but got no concrete answer.

Install version 5 and don't worry about V4...V5 will cover all changes made in V4.

Did you dial into one of the U1,2,3 modes ?

Good question, but for the Z8 it's A,B,C,D...unlike say the D750's U1 and U2.

Take the lens off and put it back on to be sure it is seated...

Your narrative suggests it won't auto-focus using the AF-ON button, what about the shutter button?

It would be nice if you told us what version(s) of LR and PS you are using and if you are on a PC or MAC. And...what version of the appropriate OS is being used.

What in LR preferences under the external editing is the Photoshop box say?

there is a limited Mac version.. The product for this used to be Topaz Studio 2 but Topaz has discontinued the product so you can’t get it.

Please don't confuse FotoSketcher with some other program...FotoSketcher is alive and well (current version is 3.90) and has never been part of the Topaz family. It is only available for Windows...not MAC...sadly. The reference to an experimental version for the Mac on the download page can't be found...unless...maybe you are on a Mac. I've not tried that approach. I shall now ponder off to FotoSketcher on a MAC to see...

There is no MAC version on the download page while using a MAC - latest version.

If you have a Bass Pro Shop or a Cabela's near by check out the popcorn they sell. Comes with popcorn, seasoning and popcorn oil

What programs do you have now…Photoshop has a oil painting function…

Or consider using https://fotosketcher.com/
fotosketcher’s purpose in life is to do exactly what you are looking for.
Windows based only, no Mac so that could be an issue.

It is free.

Don’t let yourself get so wrapped up in AI, thinking anything that changes an image is AI based. That is not the case.

Being a 2018 chances are it is a charge USB port and not a data port, but read the manual to be sure. If it is a charge port you cannot put music on a thumb drive and have it play music on the car's audio.

Good Luck
