Well, I see I am a criminal in the sites eyes and many others.

I am not going away mad. I am just going away.

Thanks for the concise quote mcveed!

No, even if the owner gives permission to use the picture, he cannot give permission for you to download it from this site. You must enter into a written contract with this site to use anything on this site for personal or commercial purposes. Very few people ever read the Terms of Use for a website, but you should.

Just to be clear MT Shooter, I believe I did ask permission to download and print your image. Lord knows I would not want to be a thief. My momma taught me that a very early age. When I was 4, I palmed a candy bar in a store and my mother discovered this in the car and marched me back into the store to confess my crime. That lesson did stick.

MT Shooter, I have asked for your advice many times and you have freely given it. I truly appreciate your advice. I do not consider you stupid and I apologize if my inflammatory writing insulted you. I, in no way, meant to insult you or anyone here.

Let's get real. If I leave my gold coins laying around in public places they will be taken. Is that theft or stupidity?

I have a little bit of an issue with that statement Randy. As we both know you downloaded and printed one of my posted images that now hangs in your studio. With my permission of course. But am I stupid for posting it under the guidelines that I did? I hope not.
But I do feel anyone who does download and print a posted image without permission is a terrible lowlife and no more than a common thief. Images are posted here, and elsewhere to be enjoyed by all, not to be stolen or passed off as someone elses.
Just as door locks only keep out the honest people, there are thieves in all walks of life.

OK, I will store my gold coins in the public roadway in plain sight, as obviously they are safe there!

Now I have a real world question along this line with a twist.

I have a friend whose pencil and paper artwork looks digital but it is done by hand. For several years I have shot digital copies for money, of his work. I then would supply him with full rez copies and low rez ones for web posting.

I have had to educate him on the dangers of releasing high rez images into the wild, meaning anywhere on the Internet. He has listened well.

He has entered many competitions and exhibitions using my low rez copies of his original work and sold a lot of original handmade artwork for serious money.

His daughter and he recently opened a web site and store at my urging and guidance with these artwork copies with the purpose of selling his handmade art work. Only very low rez images are posted. All shot by me and adjusted in Photoshop to look good online and be good looking at low rez.

Recently, like last week, he entered two of his digital full rez image copies in an online digital art show and auction. People will be buying the digital image not the original artwork.

Now the question arises of who owns what. Does he own the digital copies he paid me for? Do I have any lasting, beyond the workman's pay, to the copyright of the digital images?

And the big question is who, upon digital sale owns the copyright? If the buyer does, are there now two copyrights? One for the digitally sold work. One for the original artwork. Maybe one for me as photographer?

Where does it end or begin? Traditionally once a painting, for example, is sold the rights of ownership are transferred forever to each succeeding owner.

This is not a hypothetical situation.

Yes, but do we leave the keys in the car with it running. There is an expectation that we reasonably secure our property. Posting full resolution images is not reasonable protection of your object.

Yes the Internet provides a chain of evidential ownership, but does that provide sufficient protection of continued ownership. We do lock things up for a reason and yes theft is theft.

Fools are mugged and robbed all the time. I think some call that 'business.'

I got the Seal press, not the mat system and I never really figured out those special mat tee's. I use mine to square up stuff on the copy stand...

I did not notice that in the through instructions which outlines all sorts of possible special effects. We forget all that film once did. It also came with 3 rolls of Ectachrome SE slide duplicating film expired 1999. By lucky timing I was cleaning an old closet and found some slides I will scan and also will try the 805 on. You can barely see the viewing image of the slide in the Repronar but it is an image of a large orange Dragon I once made. 6x8x15 feet of window screen and rubber paint. A Holloween special long dead.

I thought that might bring out the old users.

The modeling/focus light works, the high, low flash works and the bellows is clean and light tight. The bellows are glued directly to the camera body and lens stage. I may make a digital adapter by fabricating mounts for Nikon PB-4 bellows. I can do this without modding anything on the 805 chassis.

Yes, I do feel lucky! Oh, I forgot it also has the Leica/Nikon/Yashica style remote cable release which I can use on 3 cameras!

Looks like it's in great shape- Ours saw a lot of use.
Do I remember correctly that there is a contrast reduction flash control that diverts a bit of light to a 45 degree angled piece of glass, or am I thinking of another unit?

I thought that might bring out the old users. I never saw one before I bought it. It is in perfect working order, with both 35mm and 120 adapters, all documentation and dust cover. Even has the warranty issued to the extinct Chicago Loop camera store. My father worked for Honeywell and I like to collect Honeywell badged objects, usually Pentax equipment.

I would also try shooting the negative on a light table. Might take some experimentation. Yesterday I bought a 1975 Honeywell Repronar 805 that was used to copy slides or negatives. All Oh it is is a flash lit opal glass with a Pentax above it. Works great and cost me $24.

But, I love to fool with old stuff and will do most anything to avoid paying a 'Pro.'

YMMV

I used to use a Repronar. $24? You (lucky) thief!!!!

Thanks. I'm off to the Apple Store on Monday.

If you get the iPad and connection kit, ask them how to delete photos from the iPad if you use the kit to import them.

I might have answered my own question.

I really like a MacBook 11" it is small and very sturdy. Does everything without special iPad kits. It is a real computer with a keyboard. I use PS and LR. I use free Sorbotfied for tethering. I have a USA made Tom Bihn shoulder bag for it that has room for many things yet is small. I like to travel very light. Often I can go for several days with just that bag, a Mac, a Nikon and a change of necessaries. I think most people pack too much.

There are so many enlargers for sale or give away it is possible to end up with too many. Both Omega and Beseler are great. I was an Omega D2 fan until I bought a clean and perfect Beseler 45 MX for $20. It is motorized and flips to horizontal for big wall prints. Very handy.

I have found the enlarger is not quite secondary to all the parts you need with it. Such as lenses, negative holders, light source and easels. They will cost more than the enlarger unless of course you find a package deal.

All the Omega 4x5 D2-5 are very similar. Condition is the biggest variable. I recommend shopping Craigslist in all cities within a 100 miles. Look for package deals. But beware once you have this stuff you may find you cannot sell or even give away any you do not want!

Today I am giving away a NOS 7x2 foot fiberglass darkroom sink to be used as a garden potting sink. I have too many sinks. I have too many enlargers also but I will deal with that.

BTW where are you located? I could make you a deal...

Sorry I got carried away. I guess my point is you need to find a nut like me. I am no kid at 62 and plan to use my film darkroom for many years, but I will seek a protege and most likely give him or her an even better deal than I got.

BTW where are you located? ;)

(=waremick]Does anyone know of a place ,anywhere, that is looking actively for old darkroom and camera equipment? I have been active for nearly 50 years in photography and now that I am retired I have all this stuff from my color darkroom that seems to be a "white elephant". I would like to sell this stuff or recycle to my digital darkroom for my next 100 years. Any info is greatly appreciated.
