Your comment is not appreciated. When a lens stops focusing, even a professional photographer should not be attempting to repair it.

If you google "Problems with Nikon 70-200 f2.8" you may be surprised. Yes, I do not believe everything on the internet, but I was amazed at the amount of postings about this lens.

I guess you are not old enough to remember that Nikon produced a FILM CAMERA LENS 70-200 f4. Using the non cpu lens feature of the D600, and manual mode (which I guess is not something you wish to deal with), it is a still fine lens.

If you actually read what I wrote I was the f2.8 not the f4 that was having the problem.

I have been using my film camera 70-200 f4 lens on my D600. Gives me great photos at full format. I was looking to buy either a used Nikon or new Sigma 70-200 f2.8 (about the same cost) to be able to take advantage of auto focus, and extra f stop, and image stabilization. I have been reading articles about problems with both of these lenses, and the lack of response from both companies. I am a web developer, and use my photographic skills to enhance my web designs, so I guess I am considered a professional.

I would appreciate any comments with respect to the compliance to problems from both companies.

Remember all those great Nikon lenses you bought for your film cameras, they will work on digital as full frame. Incase you forgot how to focus them, you just rotate that ring on the lens and watch for the dot in the viewfinder or the beep.

Like I said, it's all about the equipment. You don't need 36mp to produce good photos. You need to learn to compose in the viewfinder, then you don't need to crop.

Thank you. For some photo buffs its all about the equipment and not the technique. They need to remember that the finished photo is the end result, not what they used to take it.

Stay with the D610 and learn how to use it. There is nothing to gain by an upgrade.

I personally thing people are too focused on equipment and not on the result. When you show this GREAT photo, who cares what ??? you used to produce it. Let's remember, the picture is the only thing that matters. Great job, and don't worry, you will learn to use the D750.

Nice work. I am not the greatest with people, but you have captured some great poses. Nice work with dropping out the background.

Just a suggestion to those who have gone from film to digital. If you still have those high quality Nikon lenses from your film days, they work very well with the FX format giving you the full MP capability of an FX body. Hopefully it isn't too much trouble to focus manually. I use the DX format 18-200mm digital lens for most of the routine work, but use some of my old Nikon lenses, 50mm, 70-200mm, 105mm (which is a great portrait lens), and get great FX quality.

I finally got some time to spend on UHH. Thank you all for you warm greetings. I need to find out how to post a message to the members on my Buddy List. I think this will go to everyone. Not sure.

Any way, here is the short story:

I am a web developer and photographer. My wife and I moved to NH seven years ago when she retired. It is probably the best thing we have done. I have been involved in photography since the age of nine when I got my Brownie Hawkeye camera. In my teenage years I was getting paid for photography while my friends were doing odd jobs to earn money. The income from these jobs helped me to support my photo purchases. I am a true Nikon photographer. From the days of film now to digital. I still maintain a darkroom and do all my B&W there. Only color has moved me to the digital world kicking and screaming. I do much work for the town, the theater, and Rotary for their photo needs. When I get some time I will start to post my work. I also have a web site www.squarephotogallery.com where I sell some of my work.
Other interests are skiing, golfing and Scuba diving. You can see in the Avatar photo that I teach 3-4 year olds to ski through the town's recreation program. It is a lot of fun.

Again, thanks for all the greetings.

Best,
Ivan
