had similar issue with a San disk. Took to Sammys camera and they were able to retrieve 90 % of the phots at a cost of around $100.

I agree . Do not check camera equipment. As well as potential damage, theft happens much more than reported. I had a custom made folder knife which I had in checked luggage inside clothing. It was stolen. Only TSA with its ex ray could have easily detected it as the suitcase was nondescript wilt nothing else but mundane clothing. Tried reporting it at John Wayne airport hooping maybe in lost and founded after an exchange of voice mails and security knew what I was calling about they refused to take or return a number of subsequent calls I placed. I read many reports of cameras, computer equipment and sporting equipment stolen at airports. NO wonder more people try to bring more on board in carry-ons.

after my posting I got immediate reply from Dan W AT B&H. He was extremely helpful and followed up with exchanges of e mails answering my questions and positively influencing my decision to buy a back pack there.

I also have been a customer for about 2 years now and with two exceptions have been pleased with service and price. Delivery is quick which is much appreciated. The two exceptions are: First last week was considering the sale of the Lowepro fast pak 350 but could not determine whether my Sigma 150-6000 lens would fit , not attached to camera. I tried calling the help line twice and could not get thru the first time and put on long hold the second before giving up. So, sent e mail as they suggest asking the question about that bag vs possible others. Now Wed and still no response. Guess have to look elsewhere. The second instance was last year when they had the Nikon DX 35 lens on sale. Tried to order on line but their system was allegedly down over the weekend. So Tried Monday. Without telling me they confirmed the order by e mail but at the regular price. So, I called and was told told the sale time was over as of the end of the weekend and there was nothing they could or would do. So I cancelled and waited for the next sale and everything then went smoothly. As with many companies it appears based on my limited experience the phone service is poor.
While on the subject any recommendations for a reasonably priced back pack camera bag that will hold the Sigma lens?

Try Yellowstone lake at sunrise-Incredible shots. Also upper falls in Canyon at around 9:30 for rainbow. Also some good elk shots around there. Got that info from internet looking for photo opportunities in Yellowstone lake. The park is full of opportunities. In Grand Tetons on highway north out of town toward Yellowstone is a famous place to take pics of Tetons with barns in foreground. The falls in the park and the wildflowers should be great this year.

After considerable research and reading particularly reviews of the Tamron vs Sigma contemporary I purchased the contemporary and use it on my Nikon 7100. Have been quite pleased with the quality of the pictures. After a year still trying to better frame the shots but have gotten some very sharp pics at long distances. Have not tried or compared to the others, and am just startling to get more serious into photography particularly of nature - birds and animals so my knowledge is limited.

Surprised to hear that. I carry mine all over including wading in rivers while flyfishing. Use large Sigma contemporary lens 150-600 as well as the lens you described and others. Have dropped camera. Never had an issue. You must just have gotten an odd lemon or someone did in deed drop it. Also have D 80. Did damage flash and a lens on drop. Not worth fixing so bought the 7100 and new lense and continue to use the D 80 with other lens without problems. Probably better to buy an upgrade and keep the lenses. Mil
