Lots of info. here. Quite frankly, I didn’t want to lug my equipment on my travels. I am limited with my phone but most of my photos on vacation are wide angle and the iPhone 14 takes some pretty good photos for that.

I do believe telephoto will get better with iPhones over time. Just think of the improvement in photos over the last ten years!

We went mid September a few years back and there was snow! Enough that Beartooth Highway was sadly closed and parts of the park closed until roads could be plowed.

That being said, Yellowstone and the Tetons were magnificent, cold, snow, and ice included!

Yes, stop in Gardiner and Cooke City.

I had my 35mm and got some great photos, but nothing compares to the beauty of the area seen through the naked eye.

Enjoy!

Interesting photo…..the future of iPhone capabilities. And I didn’t see wolves when visiting Yellowstone!

Great bird photo! I am going to research the monoculars with iPhone attachments. Amazon has a Portix with 53,000 reviews….an inexpensive one with decent reviews. I don’t want to go too large as I would like to be able to take handheld shots if possible.

Never in a million years did I think my Nikon would go and a little phone would replace it. Check out BH Photo for cash or credit when selling your equipment.

I can’t believe it but I sold all my Nikon equipment. Obviously there are photos from my iPhone that will never compare to a DSLR but 95% of the time, the phone captures the image I want.

That being said, is anyone familiar with a good telephoto attachment for an iPhone? A clip on would work. Thoughts anyone?

I think I have a lot to review! The 70-200 sounds good. I actually hadn't thought about the FX lenses - just more to consider!

I enjoy shooting wildlife at 300 mm (various trips to national parks). But, yes, I have to be real careful of camera shake. 200 is probably sufficient, too. Except for real estate, vacations and wildlife, I am pretty much shooting my grandkids in action...baby, toddlers, and a 7 year old playing his sports!

I had an F2 40 years ago. It was a TANK and I actually enjoyed shooting in manual. Today, I think we all get lazy at times and shoot on auto.

My present kit lenses are AF-S DX 18-55mm. f 3.5-5.6 VR and AF-S DX 55-300 f4.5-5.6 ED VR

I prefer Nikon lenses, but I hear a lot of good about the Tamron, too. I have homework to do!

So many choices. The 70-200 2.8 may be a good choice for me. I don’t want to duplicate another wide angle lens since it’s very specific when I use it. But getting the 70-200 with extender may work well.

I prefer not to use flash and with young kids moving so quickly, I really need a faster lens to capture them. Kit lenses are fine but a moving target requires better lenses in my opinion.

Thanks for the complement Jerry! I have 4 grandkids!!!

I have a D5300 and would like to upgrade my kit lenses. Thought about replacing the camera, but decided on the lenses instead. I have a Nikon 10-24 lens that I love, and I have the fixed 35mm. A faster lens with a zoom between 35-300 or thereabouts would be great.

Most photos are grandkids, action shots, and sports. The wide angle I use for real estate and landscapes.

I expect to dish out some serious money for a better lens or two. Any thoughts are appreciated!

All these suggestions! I went with the Cotton Carrier and love it. Extremely comfortable, lightweight and there is no pressure on my neck or shoulders.

Red Rock Canyon is beautiful and close to Vegas. Hoover is nearby. Death Valley is 2 hrs away and quite impressive. Grand Canyon is “grand” but there are other national parks that I like better. Have fun!
