So we have one thing in common: you want me to do it your way and I want to do it my way.

What is the point in asking for advice if you just want to do it your way.

I use a Sony RX 100 va as my backup camera when I leave my much more heavy Canon R5 or R7 in my hotel room and just go for a walk. The 24-70 range is perfect for street photography I find it perform to its maximum below 400 ISO but pp can remove any noise should a higher ISO be required.

Love the 100-400 Panasonic Leica. Better range than 150-400. Readily available but pricy

Update 18.1, which I have downloaded. But I thought the rumour mill has it that a firmer update will be issued with significant operational improvements- including pro shot.

There has been an earlier report that Canon may issue a firmware update post 18.1. Any news on that front? Thanks.

Down to three. Canon R5 for landscape and birds with a 100-400 v2, OM 1 travel and my old Canon 7D Mk2 with a Tamron 150-600 if I feel like weightlifting

PS I do have several film cameras from the 1960’s but since I dont wish to inhale chemicals and commercial processing is almost non existent in Ottawa, I just keep them as display items for old times sake. .

Having been a Canon shooter most of my life I cautiously added the 4/3 system mainly by reason of weight. However I found that IQ and dynamic range were just not up to full frame standards. This changed with the introduction of the new OM 1 camera. I now have both an OM1 and the Canon R5, and simply use them for different purposes. If I travel the OM 1 comes along. Likewise for BIF mainly because of its weight frame rate and pro capture feature. For landscape and low light photography full frame still reigns. My two cents worth.

Essentially you suggest that one should make a decision in each instance as to which fucus mode to use. The problem I have is that bbf is an acquired muscle memory. If quick reaction is called for you just might miss the shot.
So unless you need to why mix systems.

For certain applications even a 4/3 format works better. I have the Canon r5 but if I want to lighten my load as in bird photography, provided there is good light, I am happy to work with an Olympus 5M mk iii with a 100-400 (effective 200-800) lens.

I have the R5. I remember Paul saying with the Canon R5, you don't look back once you have it. And I certainly have not looked back. It's an amazing camera and I have no regrets making that purchase. Fran

I have the R5 and have had all 5D series with the exception of the 5D mk ii. I still have the 5D mk iv , which I use for landscape photography when it is cold outside in Canada (yes it gets cold around here) but otherwise the r5 outperforms the 5d mkiv in every respect. As for the sensitivity to movement do not forget the amazing stabilization. Also, the glass for the camera is excellent.

I wonder if this applies to Canadian Costco shores. In Ottawa they centralized processing a couple of years ago, but provided you wee prepared to travel a half hour the service was there.

For Christmas calendars I use Vista, not great but acceptable. Now, I am looking for suggestions for a photo book project About 100 travel and landscape images. Thanks.

I have the R 5 and the 24-70 and 70-200 R lenses both 2.8. As I still have my 5D mk iv as a backup I have not sold my EF lenses. I used the 100-400 mkii and the 24-105 on the R 5 with an adapter with control ring. The EF lenses work just fine, but although I have not done a rigorous scientific study I generally find the R lenses to be sharper ( focal length and f stops the same based on Lightroom info)

There is no such thing as a stupid question. Only silly answers and “ad hominids” are of no assistance. Glad he asked the question. Most replies were informative.
