hello, I think it was chg-canon who mentioned the monitor being more critical. I need to upgrade my old Hewlitt Packard at least 10 years old. I am wanting at least a 27" monitor maybe an Asus or what would anyone suggest?
lastly is there a mac user who has a favorite software for RAW processing.
Great ideas thanks so much and yes I do have a rain sleeve, seems big for rhe 4/3 lumix but still do the trick. Would it be worth the effort/weight to bring a small tripod? gorilla type?
In a couple of weeks I will be traveling to and hiking in Patagonia w/a group. I have an older Lumix G7 and just bought a 4/3 Lumix w/interchangable lenses. I wanted a smaller lighter unit for hiking reasons. I did get a fixed 20mm 1.8 lens but othewise have kit lenses 14-42 and 45-150mm.
Can anyone give me ideas on shooting in Patagonia, and the new Lumix is smaller so I am having issues holding it steady. thoughts or adaptions to help out, would be appreciated. Thanks, paul
This may be basic to many of you, but not so much for me. I know C.P.filters and how they work. What or how do you use red/orange/green filters for B/W images? Do I also need to set the camera [lumix g7]. What or how do I use them. thanks in advance.
Thank You everyone for getting me started. I just need to make the time to sit w/manual-camera and notepad to learn about how I like the settings. I have NEVER done iA but will try it out. Always thought it makes a camera mindless; another point and shoot. My major travel will be to Patagonia w/many glaciers, snow caps etc. so I do live in New England dont really want to hope for snow shoveling but will take advantage to get some practice.
I lean more to larguggan's input. Soften the color as not to distract but to keep it from drawing the viewer's eye from your center of attention. It can add some 'flavor' but not be the focus of your composition. I like the way you created the photo overall, would love to get there some time. thanks
I just bought this camera for traveling purposes: smaller, lighter more packable. Does anyone have experience/hints/suggestions on the settings. Totally new to this format Micro 4/3 and using the touchscreen, nightlapse photographs etc. This camera has so many options. Like to get some help on this, thanks. paul
Really like how the "geometry" of the shot, the diagonal rain brings you to the focus of the picture. The small church in the lower 1/3, quite nice. Great effort. IF I were to make one suggestion: try to brighten the whites to strengthen that 'zone' of the composition. Still wonderful and thanks.
Agreed, good first try. can you do some post processing to boost the shadows and bring out the latent information?
Linda, great shot there especially cropped. Was it taken w/kit lens? if not what one/specs. I am looking to get the lumix 7. thanks for any reviews you have
Hello,
I have been researching the M4/3 cameras for a bit of time and agree it is not on its way out w/all the offerings and new models out there from the major camera co. I do have a ? for those of you who use them. I do a lot of outdoor work, and that includes hiking in New England mountains. I am looking to get a lumix G-7 for the fact of its size in particular. How does it stand up when you do active hiking etc or a lot of outdoor situations. I know it is not sealed like my Pentax K is but any other issues? lastly kit lenses that come w/the G-7 14-42 & 45-150. I am taking a trip to Chile in March so treating myself to this camera possible. Thanks for any thoughts. Paul
Can anyone either give me link or tell me what file size in MB or Pixels are needed to print different Panoramic shots I have? I can not find any references for Pano pics all the online 'shops' give mostly standard formats. Thanks in advance for any help. Most of my shots are in the 1.1Mb range. paul
any windmills, chimes or yard art that moves. Slow shutters may make them look different too.
Yes, many great ideas and shots as well. Bringing the outdoors in is one I was thinking of for you. Is it too late to set up bird feeders, or hang them from a nearby tree limb, suet boxes or even attract other animals into your yard. I am assuming you have a house vs/ apartment however. Many birds or animals are early am. or later in the day visitors so may fit your work day as well. good luck in your efforts.
