I have two recommendations. The first is a do it yourself program called "GetDataBack for NTFS", the professional is Srive Savers in Napa California. We used them when I was at UC Davis, not inexpensive, but honest and expert.

Good luck,
Carl

Why should I care about setting shutter with camera off.
Ps, with your Zf off it is a worthless pile of plastic as well. All the "Dials" in the world cannot change that.

Isn't there enough bullying in the U.S. without tearing everyone apart on here? ALL present cameras are non-functional with the power turned off. Everyone has their preferences, so why belittle someone else because their choice is different than yours. I have owned and shot with almost all camera brands and film sizes and found them all to be better than my skills. Lets all just enjoy our hobby and be glad there are enough difference to have competition to make them all better.

Remove the glass, take a pair of pliers, and bend the ring into the lens area. Then you can remove the ring. I've done this on many lenses (when I was in the camera business) and they were fine. Needless to say, be very careful to not scratch the lens.

Like digital, but long for the look and feel of a Nikon F? Here's the camera for you. My Wife bought me a Z9, so old bodies have to go.

The Nikon Df is Nikon's lightest full-frame digital camera, and it's all metal. The Df a real metal camera with real metal dials instead of plastic. The Nikon Df is a tight, precise and lightweight little masterpiece. It's small, light, tough, and also rather quiet. The Nikon Df packs the same professional sensor as Nikon's D4. The Df works perfectly with every AF lens made since 1987, AF, AF-I, AF-D and AF-S, with a built-in AF motor and an aperture feeler for manual-focus lenses, it works great with every Nikon auto- or manual-focus lens made since 1977!

Of course
It also works great with AI and AI-S manual-focus lenses, and if you update the really old ones to AI, all Nikon's SLR lenses from as far back as 1959 work just fine with color matrix metering and aperture-priority auto exposure and full EXIF data.
But wait — there's more! Nikon retained the original Nikon FE's ability to flip-up the AI aperture coupling lever, so for a first for any unmodified Nikon DSLR, we can flip the lever out of the way and mount our original Nikon F Mount lenses all the way back to 1959!

Tested to 150,000 cycles.
1/4,000 ~ 30 seconds, Bulb and Time. (only to 4 seconds from shutter speed dial; use the electronic Command dial for longer speeds.)

Frame Rates
5.5 FPS maximum in Continuous High.
Continuous Low settable to 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 FPS.
Quiet mode.
Mirror-up mode.

Mechanics performance top
It's almost all metal, just like a real camera.
The top plate and pentaprism housing is metal. The clear sheet that covers the top LCD is glued-on plastic, just like the frame counter cover of the Nikon EL2.
The top dials, buttons and levers are all engraved metal.
The shutter dial is engraved and knurled metal, but feels a little mushy as if it's really plastic underneath. It's not as solid as a real Nikon FE or a LEICA M typ 240. In fact, I worry that the Df's shutter dial will pop off if hit too hard.
The front "Nikon" logo on the front of the prism and the piece around the metal lens mount are painted plastic.
The grip and sides of the Df are plastic.
The back sheet is metal.
The bottom plate is metal.
The card and battery door is plastic, but is has a nice metal folding latch.

I finally gave in and installed Win 11. Takes some getting used to. Biggest problem was my Laserjet 2015 is no longer supported. No driver. So now I've got a perfectly good boat anchor.

It used to be that all laserjets would work with the standard Laserjet III driver so you might try other Laserjet drivers before giving up.

This one says it will work on 11 either 32 or 64 bit.

I cloned my Samsung 500GB SSD onto a Crucial 1TB SSD. They seemed to be identical. When I started the computer just now, Windows wouldn't load - "Problem." I restarted, and it was okay. I've done lots of cloning of the C drive to an SSD without a glitch. It seems to be working okay now, so I'll leave well enough alone.

One thing that made it easier was having all the wires that connect to the computer labeled.

EDIT: Well, It's not quite right. The 1TB drive is showing itself as a 500GB drive. Oh, well.

Jerry,
I suspect that your new drive needs a different driver. Go to the Samsung website and download the driver for the new drive. You may also have to change your BIOS settings to have it find the new drive.

I fell with my camera and the UV Filter was the only casualty. However, it jumped the thread in the area it hit the metal bleacher.
I've tried lots of stuff to no avail. The rubber can opener, channel locks, rubber band. Anyone had any luck getting the metal threaded ring off once it jumped a thread? The filter was completely shattered, so it is just the ring. I've thought of several things, but they all involve ruining the threads on the lens, which I'm trying to avoid. All ideas are welcome. Thx in advance

I used to own a camera store and I used to take a small pair of pliers, grab the ring in a perpendicular fashion, twist the filter ring toward the center of the lens (obviously taking care not to hit the front element with the pliers). Once it has turned into a noticeable Pac Man shape, take it off the lens. This sounds brutal, but I've done it hundreds of times successfully.

Send me your address so I can figure shipping. I'm not concerned about figuring it to the last cent.
