Over the years I have had Nikon and Canon cameras with a multitude of fine lenses. Two years ago I purchased the Sony RX10-4. I only wish that this camera was made 30 years ago! You can find fault with any camera and this one is no different. However, the fault is usually with the photographer.Enjoy your camera. It sure beats dragging around all those lenses.
60 years ago I worked as a councilor at a summer camp in Bushkill. Bushkill was to be inundated by the ill fated tocks island dam. Your photos bring back pleasant memories of that summer and thank God they never built the dam.
I have it. Love it. And when I think of my previous nikon and canon cameras with their appropriate lenses, I wish I had it 20 yrs ago!
One December day When the temperature was mild, my wife and I drove from Montgomery Co.to see if there were any eagles to see. When we arrived it was a national geographic moment. They had just opened the dam and thousands of fish were floating or swimming down the river. There were at least 40 to 50 eagles in all stages and hundreds of gulls in the water. Great blue herons lined the opposite shore. The eagles would dive to catch fish and even though they were diving in the middle of the gulls the gulls didn't even move. They were feasting on the fish also. This sene lasted for approximately 20+ minutes and as the fish continued downstream the birds followed. Of course this was a time before cell phones otherwise there would have been a movie!
I have the Sony 10/4 and and I sold my Canon along with all of my lenses including the 100-400 IS lense. I have never more been so satisfied. Don't be afraid to use the smart teleconverter. The 1.4 enlargement is excellent, if needed, and with a little PP you can hardly tell the difference. Good luck. Lynn
Elliott, There are two times when you can get some more wonderful shots of your favorite bird. One,when the sun is brightly shining from behind and on the female. Her colors are magnificent. And two, when they are on a feeder and the male courts the female by placing a seed in her bill. Good Luck and stay safe. Lynn
Probably an immature Little Blue Heron molting into it's adult plumage.
I believe the flowers are crinum americanum.
Limpkin, Red-winged Blackbird singing his little bill off, Little Blue Heron, Big Papa!
Nice outing. You are going to love this camera. I only wish I had my sony RX10-4 10 years ago! Keep shooting.
I never read his book nor did I see his photos from the book. I felt that the images of the birds head and bill were more artful than ornithological. I'm going to try for more species and do the same thing. Any way it's fun. Thanks for viewing.
Thank you #3 is my favorite
