Yes, reassembly is always more difficult.

That's because the hammer isn't a good tool for reassembly, pretty good at taking them apart though.

Thanks. I really want a lens like that, minus the fungus. I can hold out for a good deal. Another listing on Ebay says "The condition is good, absolutely no scratches on the glass, some wear on the plastic where lens hood attaches. Some dust is visible inside, although very little and does not affect the image. When adjusting focal length, at some point in the middle it goes a little harder and makes a squeaking sound, but this also does not affect the image or usability in any way.

You could always try KEH.COM, they are reputable. I gotten things from there, never an issue.

Hi and Welcome to the Hog.

I'll throw my two cents in. My wife has a Nikon D3100, I had a Pentax K20D, used it for many years. I upgraded to a Canon 6D because I wanted a full frame camera. I found the transition going from Pentax to the Canon very easy, super easy to navigate. Whenever I use my wife's camera I struggle to get the settings right for the shot. I'm no dummy when it comes to photography but I still struggle every time I try to use her camera.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Tim

Camlane, you are so right. Just figures ... but thanks so much for the Heads Up!

There is also the Photo Plus expo that's going on in the Javits center. That runs from the 20th to the 22nd. As previously mentioned, it's at the northern end of the Highline. And I second the Highline, definitely a unique shooting perspective.

I wish it would stay like that all day.

I read a topic this morning where these definitions were being made up to suit the purpose of the post, hence this thread.

I agree with your definitions. I also agree that one can alter definitions, or "Rankings", to suit ones own ends.

Very well done sir!

Cheers,
Tim

The two pictures that I believe are the second in the series on my monitor is just white. I believe that the shutter was open way too long and all information was lost.

I am thinking of getting a new long prime lens to shoot with my new Pentax K-3. Any suggestions and Ideas would be helpful. And no all you Canon and Nikon users out there I don't want to change from Pentax. I already have a sigma 50-500 I love it. but the wife uses it on her K-5II and she is the one to say get a long prime.

Hi. The first question I have of you is, "What's your budget?" I would also like to add that I too am a Pentax shooter. I use my K20D with my Sigma 150-500 for wildlife. There are a few telephoto prime lenses for Pentax. As previously mentioned there is the DA* 200mm, the DA* 300mm and the newer DA 560mm. The first two are weather sealed, I'm sure about the last one but I believe that it is too and should be for the hefty price tag it has.

I am curious as to why you want a prime telephoto lens. What types of things do you want to photograph with it?

Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question. I have a Canon T5 that as a beginner I am trying to figure out and just take pictures to try to learn. I am having trouble focusing and getting a crisp picture. I have used the viewfinder adjustment but still find what I'm seeing in the viewfinder dark and not clear. Would an eyepiece magnifier help? What does it actually do?

I believe that you have mistaken the video, when it tells you to get out of Auto, I believe that it's telling you to get out of the Auto exposure modes. The Green mode. I have seen these videos and they all say pretty much the same thing, learn to use the manual modes of exposure. This is different than Autofocus.

My suggestion is, turn on autofocus and see if that makes a difference, which I believe it will. And never be afraid to ask questions on here. Most of us are friendly enough. I hope this helps.

Tim

Hi Hoggers,

Has anyone tried the new Canon 100-400mm lens with either the Canon 1.4 or 2.0 teleconverter? I'm thinking about buying this combo. At this point buying the lens is a given. I'm trying to decide if I will get the TC too.

I will be using this combo on wildlife. Any opinions, help or comments will be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hello fellow hoggers,

I am looking for a solution for a suitable lens hood for the kit lens for a new Sony a6000, the kit lens is the 16-50mm OSS zoom lens. I dont understand why Sony didn't create a dedicated hood for this lens.

Thanks in advance.

Happy shooting,
Tim

I can't speak to the 5DII, and what you want to shoot wilmake a difference, the 6D is quite a machine. Excellent low light/high iso image quality. Color rendition is outstanding. I don't shoot video, do that's not an issue for me. Overall, it's an awesome camera. I hope that this helps.

Some mirrorless cameras do have a viewfinder. The Sony a6000 for example. I have a Sony NEX 5N, which does not. It is true that you have to use the LCD screen to compose a shot and that you have to compete with sunlight. In those situations I use a Hoodman Loupe. Blocks out the sun very nicely.

Not having purchased any new lenses lately, I appreciate the heads up!! I have never received a new lens without the hood, instructions, warranty and at least a small protective bag of some sort that the lens will go in.
This does seems like a bait and switch deal to me. We assume we are getting what has been the norm all along and now we have to question everything. Kinda sucks.

In many ways it is a bait and switch. With top of the line gear you get these "extras". I was aware of that when I bought my lens. I wasn't happy about it, but I bought the hood separately anyway.
