No denying that two or more heads are better than one. This site includes photographers of varied experiences and I for one have taken advantage of their experiences . Welcome to an interesting forum .
Have the same printer now for many years and have not had any problems like you describe. Before attempting to do anything call Canon tech support to discuss problem . Good luck! Will be looking to see what they tell you and did it solve the problem ...in anticipation if that happens to my printer .
I have used a few printers that did a very good job on photos but upgraded to a Conon Pixma Pro 9000 Mark II . Like with all printers they are relatively in expensive but they get you on the ink . Buying ink in stores is really expensive so I buy all my ink on line which saves a couple of dollars. People will usually tell you about how good the printer they use is and recommend it . Suggest you go to a store and print out a sample copy of a photo you like and compare printers etc ...Speak with someone in a photo club or professional . You will ultimately make a decision based on your likes !
