National Geographic has pictures of wildlife but not articles on photographing wildlife or am I missing something? The magazine I’m asking about is dedicated to wildlife photography not just photographs. So it discusses post processing, equipment, techniques, the whole gamut. I was wondering if it did that in a quality manner. Is the content any good? Are the articles in depth or perfunctory? Do they have recognizable authors? They want $100 a year. That’s a lot, especially if it’s online only and more so if it’s junk

Does anyone here subscribe to this magazine? If so, what do you think of it? Is it online only or is it a printed magazine also? I'd like a good magazine to read each month. Any recommendations?

As an image No.2 is ok but in all three shots the highlights are clipped and the birds have been over sharpened.

I don’t think a critique was asked for. This was merely a sharing of a great capture of some beautiful birds! Nuff said! Well no, let me say it again, GREAT CAPTURE OF SOME BEAUTIFUL BIRDS!

I’ve owned a D50,two 7100’s ,a 610, 750 and now the 810. What I learned is that technique, glass and the right light are what make great photos. Without those elements all those cameras can produce losers. With it they can all make gallery worthy images!

I agree 100%!! Even if he had something valuable to say, which he doesn’t, he has buried it in his misguided antics. The people here who have real world experience with these products are the best testimony to there value.

Sorry NCMtnMan. I have to disagree with this recommendation for this OP. This OP has a great Nikon FX camera, and primarily owns "Gold Band" lenses.

Ya, if you want to save a few bucks you might consider Sigma, Tamron, etc. They make good lenses....but if you want a lens that will function as designed, auto focus quickly and accurately, and produce a superb image on a Nikon camera (without having to buy and use a 'tap-in' or USB Focus dock to bring it into acceptable standards) my suggestion to the OP is to stick with Nikon/Nikkor.

I bought the Nikon 200-500 for my D750 and now D810. I came across the Tamron 150-600 G2 at a great price and decided to give it a try. The Nikon is now for sale! The tamron is every bit as sharp AND auto focuses faster so I get more wall hangers than with the Nikon! Never had to tap in!

Try the app r.g.p.s. Really good photo spots. There’s a free and a pay version. The free version s enough to give you highlights of the pass and the surrounding area. Worth checking out no matter where you’re going.

How much do you want to spend? Their prices are definitely related to their quality. All 2.8’s are not equal. I bought a 1980’s Nikon 80-200 twist zoom for $375 ( a steal, they go 5-600 ) and I love it. Shot thousands of pictures at my sons football games through the years on Nikon D7100, D610 and then D750. My sons teammates would be asking for pictures right after the game because they knew I got great shots. If you want to spend the money a new version of the 80-200 ( the AF-S ) will give you faster auto focus and a slightly sharper image.
