I am finding shooting in RAW that my photos look better then in JPEG. Just curious on what everyone uses.

Greetings,
You have some beautiful images indeed! Just curious...What specifically do you mean by "better than in JPEG"? As a Nikon Z7 landscape and product photographer. I shoot both Raw and JPEG Fine, use Photoshop, and find that for many of my images, processing JPEGs as .tif files provide excellent sharpness, image detail, and dynamic range. So, what do you see as "better than JPEG" in your Raw files?
Thank you!
Regards,
Steve

Awesome B&W image, BDK! Love the dark sky which accentuates the clouds...similar to what a red filter does.

Greetings! I find that processing/editing a B&W jpeg in Photoshop affords a multitude of creative options. Regarding image sharpness, a main criterion of mine, I always try to optimize the sharpness of my desired focus point in camera, using appropriate lens, aperture, precise focus point, subject distance, DOF, etc., rather than relying on an sharpness/Unsharpness function in the software. That said, the myriad tools in Photoshop are often employed to "tweak" the image before final publication.

Thank you! Yes, you're correct in that I don't want to spend too much, as this is a small sideline, not my "day job". (If it was my day job, I'd be sleeping in a tent. ;-(

Interesting! Since you've used both, can you please give me an idea of annual cost, and exactly what the one cost would include? (I say "one cost" because my current platofrm (Network Solutions) charges several fees yearly, i.e., hosting, email alias, domain name registration). Since my domain name is already registered, I assume I wouldn't have that fee. Thank you!

Thanks! I'll check them out, and others such as Wix.

The Nikon Z lenses are the Z system's best selling point. They are truly superb.

TOTALLY Agree! The 50 f/1.8 Nikkor S, for example, is the sharpest lens I've ever used in 45 years of photography! I REALLY look forward to the 105 f/2.8 Micro-Nikkor S lens!

WIX is fine, so is Squarespace. There are more discounts available with Squarespace from YouTube providers.
Stay far, far away from Word Press.

Great advice! I'm not a YouTube provider, and so far, leaning towards WIX. I have to evaluate the total cost for doing what I need, but looking forward to a redesign of my existing site, and enabling e-commerce and SEO functionality. Thanks!

For those with Nikon mirrorless cameras. What experience can you share concerning the use of regular mount lenses with the adapter. I have a D750 and a D7100 and quite a herd of lenses. The upcoming Z5 is catching my interest but there is no way I could afford the body and a slew of Z-mount glass. I would be keeping the other 2 cameras. Thoughts? I would probably get one of the available "kit lenses" but that would be it at least for a while.

Hi Dennis. I recently moved from the great Fujifilm X-System's X-T3, to the awesome Nikon Z7, and am quite satisfied! The sheer sharpness and detail I get from the Z7 and the Nikkor S lenses is fantastic, as is the operability and ergonomics of the Z7.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Nikon Z7?

Hi Frank. As a landscape and product photographer, I recently moved from the nice Fuji X-System, to the Nikon Z7, primarily because I wanted to get even more sharpness/detail in my large landscape prints/panoramas. I find the Z7 to be amazing in its build quality, ergonomics, customizability, and most importantly, Image Quality, with the superb Nikkor S lenses, as well as other Nikkor lenses when used with the FTZ Adapter. The sharpness and detail I obtain from this system is the best I've seen in 45 years of photography! (If you don't need the features of the Z7II, IMHO, you'll be quite pleased with the Z7.) Good luck!

Greetings Photographers!
I am seeking a new web hosting platform that is geared towards photographers, and came across WIX. Does anyone with experience with that platform recommend it, or another option? (I'm seeking an inexpensive platform that can support a few thousand jpgs, SEO, keyword indexing, and e-commerce options.) Thank you!

I have the Tamron 90mm macro, (apparently there is a version that won’t autofocus on the Z’s but mine works great and is very sharp. I like a lot of the Venus lenses but the big disadvantage is that it’s manual focus and can’t take advantage of the focus shift function.

Yes, exactly!! I found that out the hard way...trying it with that Laowa, and noticed that the Focus Shift Shooting menu item was disabled! First I thought there was something wrong with the camera, until I realized, as you stated, that the mode only works with AF lenses, which, when I thought about it, makes perfect sense. :-) Yet another reason to wait for the Micro-Nikkor S version!

Going to lose $720 million dollars this year---Canon to make '$616 million dollars.

Greetings! As a landscape and product photographer who went back to Nikon last year, from the Fujifilm X-System, I'm sure hoping that these rumors are just that...rumors. From what I've read since moving to the Z-System, Nikon hopes that the Z System will greatly help move that bottom line into positive territory, and judging by the apparent popularity of the Z bodies, especially the lower end models, I am encouraged, not to mention the stellar reviews of their new Nikkor S lenses, both the f/2.8 models as well as the 24-70 f/4 "kit" zoom! Indeed, the 50 f/1.8 Nikkor S is the sharpest lens I've used in 45 years of photography. Good luck, Nikon!

Nice that you have a Macro lens. I am anxiously awaiting the 105 f/2.8 Micro-Nikkor S, which, if the current Nikkor S lenses are any indication, could be the sharpest "Macro" lens out there! In the meantime, I am trying the Laowa 100 f/2.8 Ultra-Macro lens on my Z7, which does work...and it's proving quite sharp, however, the main issue with that lens is that the focus "throw" is very short, meaning that one must be Extremely Precise when focusing, as it's VERY easy to miss your intended point of focus! Other than that, it's a very well-made lens, and easy on the budget. Makes me wonder what the upcoming 105 f/2.8 Micro-Nikkor S will go for! (I used to have the Fujinon XF80 f/2.8 Macro lens for my previous X-T3. It was extremely sharp too, but I do think the Laowa is sharper, though a hard comparison to make, given the totally different sensor size and resolution.)

Good point! I have an L-bracket on my Z7, which I prefer to use, rather than the FTZ adapter's tripod socket. I feel that the L-bracket affords a bit more solid connection due to the surface area that makes contact with both camera and tripod.
