These are great shots - very sharp and a great subject. I read somewhere that NYC was the home to the greatest number of peregrine falcons. Nature is amazing!
I grew up on LI and we went to Captree and the beaches all the time. Thank you for bringing back memories!!
I am really enjoying all the photos being posted. I did not get to post too many this year (health reasons) but here are 3 that I really enjoy. All the best and Happy New Year!

Please continue to post....they are wonderful!
I was always amazed by Picketts charge and when we stood at one end of the field I just felt this overwhelming sadness. Gettysburg is an emotional, humbling place to visit. Thank you for sharing these great photos...
They are so much fun to watch. They wipe out our suet feeder in a day!!!
Pigeons are beautiful birds...when they are not making a mess! Thanks for sharing.
Love those big ears. So lucky to be in a spot to get some great photos!
Beautiful animals. Did u know that they break the tips off their horns so that they can maintain peripheral vision... Just love nature!
When it rained they would get squished all along the pavement around OSU campus - talk about a mess. My husband from Penn State calls them horse apples....
As more information comes out, I have to agree with zoo officials. This 3-4 year old child was intent on getting into the water and somehow was able to quickly worm his was thru or over a fence, then bushes, the down into a 15 foot deep moat. Witnesses said it happened so fast no one could react quickly enough to grab the child. Keepers were able to call the 2 female gorillas into their enclosures but Harambe (the male) did not heed the call and instead went into the moat to investigate what entered into his area. What we don't see is after he dragged the child thru the water, he then dragged him up a ladder to dry land and continued to drag the child along the ground. He was agitated and not being protective. The EXPERTS knew what this 400+ pound animal could do in this state so they made the difficult call to kill the animal in order to save the child. The call was made by zoo officials, keepers, police and fire department. It is so easy for us to want to place blame. This was tragic in every way possible but sh** happens in life. The child has a concussion and is recovering at home.
I live in the Cincy area and have been to the zoo many times. The zoo is dedicated to its animals and is a world leader in conservation and helping maintain endangered species. The zoo personal and the community are heartbroken over this event but I am sure zoo leaders made the best decision to save the life of this child. The videos did not pick up everything; the gorilla dragged the child behind an area that was hard to film and the animal was becoming more agitated over time. The response team truly felt the child's life was in danger so they shot the gorilla. They still do not understand how this child wormed his way thru the protective enclosure...this is the first time this has happened in 38 years. Witnesses say the mother was distracted by her other child, turned her back and then the kid was gone. It is so easy for us to be "Monday morning quarterbacks" ; goodness knows what any of us would have done in the moment. It is just sad and tragic for all involved.
Your photos of the puffins really put a smile on my face today and I really needed that! Thank you for sharing - beautiful little birds!
Larry looks just luscious!! He is very handsome and you captured him wonderfully!
