My family moved from NYC to Philly in 1941. I was 9 years old at the time. in 1942 we moved to the Oxford Circle area, and occasionally went swimming and (hand-line) fishing in Neshaminy creek as well as Pennypack creek. I graduated from Frankford High in 1949. I am confused about what body of water is shown here, since I have swum across Neshaminy creek and it was a piece of cake, being maybe 50 yards wide, and I wasn't much of swimmer in those days. Anyway, nice picture. For a closer skyline shot, from the Cooper river (which I had never heard of) in Camden, Google 'Astronomy picture of the day' to get todays picture and give you the ability to see every daily picture back to 1995. I forget what the caption for the picture is but you could try 'Philadelphia Skyline' in your search. Best, Johnala.
Great! I am a sucker for cars with six wheels.
Denis: In the Stan Kenton tune 'And her tears flowed like wine' there are the lines 'but alas and alack, like a stab in the back....' Vocal is by June Christy, and it was something of a hit in the 1940s. You can hear it on Youtube. Last year at different swap meets I bought a T50, T70, and A1, all for peanuts. The battery covers on the 50 and 70 broke immediately. I plan to use the 50 in program mode instead of the point and shoot I use now which fits in my pocket. The only thing good about the 70 is the absolutely beautiful manual. The a1 works fine, and I will keep it and shoot manually as usual, using Kodak Ektra 100. I manage to keep the battery cover on the 50 using duct tape. All of the lenses are great FD's. I will be using the macro zoom 28-55 lens which came with the a1 along with the front cap which notes that 'Canon is the official camera (of the) 1984 olympic Games'. All this for $20.
Nice. Are you familiar with the "Astronomy Picture of the day"? Every day a new picture, going back to 1995. You can Google it. After getting there, search for Fireworks for a nice surprise. Enjoy.
It is situations like this that make me stay with film. What a mess. Good luck.
When I came to California in 1957, I came of course by 66, but someone else drove, in a 1950 Olds rocket 88. Soon I bought my first car, a 1951 Pontiac as in your New Mexico shot, so it sure brought back a lot of memories. Thanx for the picture, and good luck to you!
Nice. Does the ferry still run from Lewes to Ocean City, NJ?
Wow! Knocked me right over.
Wow! I would like to suggest that you Google 'Astronomy picture of the day' where there is a picture for today and every day going back to 1995. Search for 'lightning and fireworks' for a nice shot. Enjoy.
Sure, frame it. What time of Day is it? There is an expression 'Cats are points'. If it is a feral cat it could be dangerous to humans.
I would probably shoot less, only because I buy blank calendars which have about a 5 inch by 7 inch space for the pic and glue strips. I shoot mostly flowers at flower shows and gardens. I live in Los Angeles County, about halfway between San Diego and Santa Barbara, and at one time would go to all of the shows between both cities. The calendars are for my 3 kids and some lifelong friends. Some of the places I go to are Descanso Gardens, known for its Camellias and the Huntington Library (The original Pinky and Blue Boy pictures are here) known for a moon bridge in the Japanese Garden, and Chinese Garden. Both places are not to be missed. Also I try not to miss the Rose Parade floats which can be seen immediately after the parade and the next day. The floral displays are superb. I am 85 years old and do film, now with an old Vivitar and a classic Pentax SMC Takumar 50mm 1.4 and a #2 closeup filter to simulate macro. I have many (Praktica NOT Pentax) screw mount lenses that I don't use because I can't hold them steady. Sad.
For Complete manual use the sunny f16 rule, and bracket using f11 and f22.
This is a Pentax 'K' lens; the 'M' might mean multi-coated. It is also a very slow lens. 'Five Star' is just a designation, just as Pentax used the word Takumar many moons ago for some lenses; also Pentax sold an SLR called the K1000 which was so popular that every time they wanted to stop making it there was such a hue and cry that they decided not to do so, at least twice that I know of. Your lens would fit on the K1000.
So what's wrong with bracketing? You might learn something.
