I don’t know if because of my age but I don’t like to read long posts. I‘m 86. I know people like to give a full overview of what they are saying but it’s better to try to condense your thoughts before posting.

That's what I tell my wife all the time; Get to the bottom line!!, If people want or need more details they'll ask you!!

Does any one know the correct part number for the Sony RX10 IV Lens Hood? Sony doesn't seem to specify it anywhere.

Thanks,
John

I’m off to Iceland this week on a guided photography trip. Shoes… Merrill Moab’s for sure, but do I go nearly knee height or mid calf or duck shoes?

Be prepared for rain! A couple of years back in September, I was there for 11 days and had rain 9 of those 11 days.

My wife and I both got the Panasonic Lumix G9 M4/3 for light weight travel, we're in our 70's as well. Nice system with good glass to choose from. In addition to our other lenses, I just picked up two 14-140's (28-280 equivalent) for each of as a ones lens solution.

I've looked through the various posts on getting a gimbal. It looks like the place that sold the NEST Gimbal is out of business; and I wasn't sure I wanted to go that high anyway as I will only be infrequently using this. I saw on an earlier post that the Benro GH2 can be had on ebay for around $240 from China. I also saw positive reviews on the MOVO GH700 and Movo GH800.

Right now the lens I will be using on it would be the Sigma 100-400 with the Canon to Sony adapter on my Sony a body. If I moved up any the biggest lens I would get is either the Tamron 150-500 or the new Sigma 150-600 (the latter if it tests well). I'd trade in the 100-400. Primarily use would be wildlife - birds, etc. If manna fell from heaven (retired) the Sony 200-600.

A lot of the gimbal comments are from 5-6 years ago. What's the current thoughts on these gimbals now.

Many thanks for your help.

Amazon has the MOVO GH700 for $99 plus several others to choose from that are inexpensive!

Has anyone found a good (free) replacement for Picassa? I miss the features that it offered like cropping, lightening, straightening out and mostly--adding captions to your photos with a choice of white or black lettering. It was so simple to use compared to LR and other expensive programs. Any suggestions for a replacement? normpel@comcast.net

You can get it here -

I recently tried to create a DVD which turned out to be an absolute horror and basically a waste of time. When completed with pictures, videos, captions, transitions and sound I could play it on the computer. However when I tried to burn a DVD copy for my television, nothing worked. I have a windows 10 which did not have moviemaker on it but I downloaded it. Images and videos were from Sony bridge camera and iPhone. Back in 2005 I are used movie maker successfully. Any suggestions on a good free program would be greatly appreciated.

Try Ashampoo. They have a free version of their burning studio that's free and their programs are very good and easy to use. https://www.ashampoo.com/en/usd/pin/7110/burning-software/burning-studio-free

Why not get it repaired? When you really need it is when it will die on you! Would you drive a car that way? I suppose some people would..

Why sell it and lose money? If he needed service he could always ship it to Nikon in Canada for repair.

FWIW - Of all my Nikon gear the only item I ever had a problem with was a "refurbished" lens I bought from the Nikon store on-line.

Like it was already stated here, use it and be happy, the chances of it crapping out are very very low.

The G9 100% x 2
My wife and I both bought and use this system for our travels... Sadly our Nikon gear is collecting dust with the exception of my D500 w/200-500.

Need sound advise. I am 73 years old 5'3" and 130 lbs woman. I have been back packing my camera equipment around the world, until lately of course. There are occasions where I would find it getting a bit difficult to carry 20+ pounds of equipment around all day. I have a Nikon D750 and a number of lenses, the heaviest is my Tamron 70-200. I want to hear all the pros and cons of the Leica Q2. It is quite a leap, financially, but it sounds like a less exhausting way to maximize my love of photography and travel. I know there're occasion where my Nikon will be the way to go, but will I enjoy the ease and comfort of a high end point and shoot.

Why don't you just use one of those collapsible rubber ones? They're a lot cheaper, just check Amazon or B&H - just a thought...

Take the drive al look at it - "Open Box" remember... Make sure everything is included as it should be, the condition is "like new", etc. Someone could have previously bought it and used it, - who knows. Amazon sells a lot of open box stuff and truthfully after seeing it, I would rather buy new but that's just me - I've gotten burned in the past. I think "Open Box" is business code for "Returned".... they can't sell it as new anymore...
