I bought my first EV, Tesla Model S, used in 2017. It was a 2014 model and I paid $50k for it. The only reason I bought it was the free supercharging for the life of the car. I drove that car every where. 208,000 miles later, I bought a used 2021 Tesla Model Y because I wanted to try out the Full Self Driving feature on it. It cost me $49k.

Now I got a special offer. If I bought a brand new Tesla, I can transfer Free Supercharging from my old Model S into the new car, I can transfer my Full Self Driving software from the 2021 Model Y, and they added one more perk. I can discount the cost of one option on a new inventory car in stock. All this had to be done before the end of March.

So I bought a 2024 Model X with a 7 seat option ($3,500) and the Ultra Red paint option ($2,500). Since they would only reduce the price by the cheapest option, I only got the price reduced by $2,500.

I love telling everyone I know that I haven't gone to a gas station in almost 8 years. Charging the car every night at home and waking up to a fully charged car ready to go. The only maintenance was topping off the windshield wiper fluid and changing the tires. I don't rotate tires anymore because it helps my budget to buy only two tires at a time as they wear out. The rear tires seem to wear out faster than the front one. Also, I buy my tires from Amazon.

Yes, there are some who will refuse to buy an EV for any number of reasons. I was one of those early adopters and I'm still enjoying the perks of driving an EV. Fast acceleration that never gets old. No more waiting in line at the Costco gas pumps. No more oil and filter changes. No more worries about gas prices going through the roof. Oh, I almost forgot, my old 2014 Tesla Model S with over 208k miles are still on the original brakes. Never had to change them.

So yes, a lot of my friends still have their old gas cars and will never change perhaps in their lifetime, but the newer and younger car buyers are into EV's because of the cost of owning a gas car is more costly and a nuisance to have to deal with maintenance. Plus the dealership network is a total ripoff.

I have rented a gas car when I was traveling and it was a total disappointment. No get up and go, noisy engine when accelerating(if you call that accelerating, more like a slow strain on the poor engine) and finding a gas station along the way was very frustrating because of the prices. I will never go back to gas cars again.

One more perk, I already have solar panels on my house and I will be installing 4 Tesla power walls next week. This will help offset my energy costs by a lot so driving my electric car will be free. Can't do that with a gas car.

I used this. Much cheaper. No chemicals needed. Just warm water.

USN 1975-1979 rank discharged E4 Machinist Mate. 2 years on the USS Oklahoma City CLG5 based in Yokosuka, Japan. Was the best tour because we were the flagship for the 7th fleet. Never stayed out at sea longer than 2 weeks and always went somewhere nice. Final duty was on a reserve "tin can" in Portland, Oregon. Portland was a really nice town.

Now this is interesting. To swap out an engine from a gas car is just as much.

Nothing to do with overall cost effectiveness??

(Wait until you need a new battery.)

After 207k miles, I'm still going strong. Getting ready to change my original brakes.

That's funny. There's so much negativity about EV's and yet more fires are created from Hybrid cars. The next one is regular gas cars and followed by EVs which is way at the bottom.

https://www.autoinsuranceez.com/gas-vs-electric-car-fires/

I currently own a used Tesla Model S since 2017 and the only reason I bought it was the free supercharging. I was able to travel to a lot of places for free and it was very enjoyable and worry free. Yes, the charging part was a downer but I took it as a time to rest and stretch out and enjoy the scenery. As for EV fires, well, they happen but not as often as a gas car or a hybrid.

And since Tesla made the offer, I'm getting my free supercharging transferred from my old Model S to a new Model X. Say what you will but look at the reasons why EVs are getting such a bad press. It's because people don't like change. They want everything to stay the same. So go ahead and enjoy sitting in line waiting to fill up your gas tank at the local Costco filling station. All I do is unplug the my Tesla from home and enjoy my time walking around Costco and eating up all the free samples.

I love it when I tell people that I haven't been to a gas station in 7 years!!!

Go down H95 from Reno NV to Las Vegas. Ghost towns and old mining towns along the way. In Beatty, NV there are free roaming burros in that town. I actually had to stop at a supercharger there and one of them came right up to us for food. These burros are so friendly.

But isn't there a fee to use them?

Take a look at the Tesla Model X. It has a large front trunk. Very secure and very easy to access. This is usually the area where a gas engine would be.

If you get the 5 seat version, you will have lots of hidden storage space under the false bottoms of the rear trunk area. It's a lot of room to hide all of your equipment.

I own a Model S rear drive and have ample storage for a long trip.

Take your Mac back to the Apple store and have them reinstall the old operating system. I've learned that when my Mac was giving me problems, I had brought my Mac desktop in and they asked, "Do you remember what version OS it was running?" They actually have most of the recent Mac OS in their possession that they can download for free. Hope that helps.

I go after the high dividend yielding stocks. You're always going to get money every month or every quarter no matter what. Then you can invest the dividends into other high yielding dividend stocks or reinvest in the same stocks. You can even save up the dividend and wait for the stock market to fall so you can scoop up on some great deals.

I've learned that a financial adviser can lose your money pretty quickly and that's why I don't allow my money in their hands. Rather, I subscribe to newsletters like "The Daily Paycheck" that gives some pretty decent advise on what stocks to buy and what to avoid. What they researched and recommend, I can also do some of my own research to make sure it's something to consider investing in. And if I decide to, I will buy their stock through my own brokerage portfolio. So far, my annual return has been about 8.5%.
