To me, the IS was worth it. Remember, whenever you use an IS lens with a tripod, always turn the IS OFF. I am sure you knew that. I rarely use a tripod. If you are one of those who uses a tripod a lot, an IS lens wouldn't make much sense.

I use a gray card but white works too. I always set my white balance to "auto" then shoot my gray card. Go to the menu and choose "Custom white balance" and hit the "set" button on the wheel. The I switch it from "auto" to the WB icon and reshoot followed by the previous steps. Does that make any sense? :)

If you can take photographs at this level you should be able to make a living at photography. The ease of photography today means the competition is fierce. Your shots are at a much higher level than most.

Thank you! I appreciate the compliment. I have been doing this now since 2006 learning all I can. There is a lot to learn and I still have much to learn but I'm having fun doing it!

I have a little studio in my basement and do this on the side. I love it and wish I could make a full time living doing it. I will go for it when I retire in 6 years!

I will consider myself a professional when I can earn my living and totally support myself with my photography sales! Until then, I will keep my day job! Which is not as fun as shooting people places and things!

What a great shot, looks like your standing in the river.

I believe I shot that from the tressel straight across from the bridge!

Haha! She is my little diaper diva granddaughter, the same one in #3,4,5 and 6! One of my favorite subjects!

Focus on the eyes for sharpness. Slightly underexposed. Without knowing what kind of a camera and lens, it's hard to say. It just looks like a snapshot. But, he is a very handsome young man and I love his freckles. It's a keeper!
