I have a Canon 100 photo printer and can never print straight from my computer without wasting several prints to adjust the exposure, contrast, etc. My monitor is calibrated with the Spyder device. So, my question is: what am I not doing that I should be doing? How does one calibrate the printer to be in synch with the monitor?

Yes, an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic with a Super Takumar 50mm, f1.4 lens (1968 I think). The camera and lens are still in great condition. I love that lens. Actually, I have used it on extension tubes and a converter to use for macro work with my digital Nikon D300. As for the Spotmatic, it was my "learning" camera. At the time I knew essentially nothing about the basics of photography. But with the help of the little exposure needle and Herbert Keppler's articles I made steady progress.

Thanks, Paul. Regardless of what method, it’s still a lotta work. As a side note we lived in Lake Zurich 23 years before moving to the Atlanta area. By now the corn should be over waist high I guess.

Thanks. I appreciate your speedy reply. I’ve begun converting some of my several thousand slides using a cheap device that does a reasonably good job. Of course I have to clean the images up in the computer to remove age spots, dust, and adjusting exposures, color, etc. What do you find is the advantage of using the 600?

Paul, what equipment do u use to scan your slides?

You could do a lot more to this image in terms of restoration. But, you didn't store the attachment and the pixel resolution looks extremely small, not even reaching the 800px 'wide' limit of a UHH thumbnail.

When I scan my 35mm negatives, I try for a resolution of 3888x2592, mimicking the 10MP resolution of an older EOS XTi.

I have seen posts in other discussion forums where people have changed from the Nikon Z system to Fuji X-T system. Has anyone in the group switched from the Fuji X-T system to the Nikon Z system? Why and what is your satisfaction with the change?

I had a bad experience with knock-off batteries. Was at Bryce Canyon for sunrise shooting away with my Nikon D300 when the camera shutter release stopped working. Just dead. Plenty of juice left in the battery. Luckily, I had my back-up D90. Recharged all batteries and next day was at North Rim and it happened again on the D300. I sent it in to Nikon and they found nothing wrong with the camera. They did, strongly recommend that I use Nikon batteries. I was told that the Nikon batteries have a computer-like system in them that the knock-offs don't have to prevent such failure. I know - supposed to be designed and built to Nikon specs. Just saying. Anyway, I invested in some original Nikon batteries and have never experienced the problem again. The camera and batteries are still working just fine. But - I carry the D90 along as a B/U just in case.
