And the Soviet Union invaded Poland from the East. England and France did not declare war on the USSR because they did not have an agreement with Poland to protect them against an invasion from the east. The USSR agreed to the Nuremburg trials only if their invasions of Finland and Poland were not counted as crimes against peace.

When it comes to hitting, the use of performance-enhancing drugs has largely been blown out of proportion. When it comes to hitting home runs, hand-eye coordination is much more important than pure strength. If strength was all that mattered, then Charles Atlas body builders should be major league stars.

A few years ago my wife worked for an employment agency. Every year the owner of the company would bring in a celebrity for an inspirational talk. One year the celebrity was Johnny Bench. After the talk, he signed autographs and mingled with the crowd. It didn't take long to form my opinion of him . . . what a prick!

Their nests are in the old garage. They fly up to me in the new garage. Not buying your explanation.

We have about a dozen that nest in the old one-car garage. They follow me when I'm mowing to catch the bugs I scare up. Sometimes, when I'm standing in the new garage, they will fly within a couple feet of me, hover for a few seconds and then dart out. I don't think they are the least bit afraid of me.

The southern generals that you want to protect were fighting against the United States. There is really no reason to try and make them something that we should remember. They were traitors.
But that is my opinion. And I can't understand whar remembering them would do for anyone. I don't mean not remembering the war or the causes, but why glorify those who fought against the US.

I'm not sure why this concept is so difficult to understand. The Southern states QUIT the union. (which they had every right to do) They were not traitors. You also have to remember this was an era when loyalty to a person's home state was greater than their loyalty to the federal government.

Here is a test of your opinion. Maryland was a slave state that fought on the union side. Should we remove any statues of Maryland officers that were slave holders?

The war put Lee in a horrible position. The correct strategy would have been to build up a defense in depth and let the north grow tired of fighting. But Lee couldn't do that. The south needed to export cotton to Europe and the northern Navy had all the southern ports blockaded. He figured with a few quick victories that perhaps England would join in the fight and lift the blockade. He was wrong of course; England merely started importing cotton from Egypt.

BTW, it's not generally known, but the real heroes of Gettysburg were the northern calvary. Lee had sent Jeb Stuart's southern calvary around the union lines and they were to attack the union center from the rear to coincide with the frontal assault. Although heavily outnumbered, northern calvarymen engaged the southern troops before they could reach the front lines. They fought them to a standstill and forced them to retreat. Who was the leader of this rag tag bunch of northern horsemen? George Armstrong Custer.

Sherman let the South off easy? I'm pretty sure the citizens of Atlanta at the time would disagree. Lincoln was wrong . . the Southern states had every right to quit the union.

Pure BS. Nearly all the Confederate statues were put in place by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, not the Klan. Civilized beings build . . barbarians destroy.

Numerous eyewitnesses who were at ground level close to the motorcade said they smelled gunpowder after the last shot. Oswald was 6 stories up in the School Book Depository and the wind was in his face at the time of the shooting. It is VERY UNLIKELY the smell came from his rifle. The accidental Secret Service shooting would fit their claims perfectly.

I recently watched a show about the Kennedy assassination and while I'm not a big conspiracy buff, a couple of things bother me. (1.) They found 3 shell casings on the floor and assume he fired 3 times. (2 casings fairly close together and 1 some distance away) Does this mean he fired 3 times? Not necessarily. There could have been a shell casing in the rifle from the last time he fired it prior to November 22. This could explain why one casing was some distance from the other 2. I would like to know what was in the chamber when they found the rifle. (A) a spent round casing (unlikely) (B) another live round (C) nothing (2.) The bullet that struck Kennedy and Connelly (the single bullet theory) went through Kennedy's back and neck, broke a rib in Connelly, shattered Connelly's wrist bone, and went into Connelly's leg was largely intact when it fell out of Connelly's leg onto a gurney at the hospital. It is only slightly deformed. The bullet that hit Kennedy in the head literally exploded on impact. (You can even see the explosion on the Zapruder film) Witnesses who were present at the autopsy say the x-rays showed numerous small fragments in Kennedy's brain. These are clearly 2 different types of bullets. Would Oswald, who was somewhat of a cheapskate and perpetually short of money, have purchased 2 different types of ammunition? And even if he had, why would you load different types of ammo into a magazine?
