Holy smokes! I have been scammed. I can’t believe it is another resurrected post. Star Trek reruns are better

The way I avoid them is when a topic shows up that I haven't seen recently, and it already has a lot of posts, then I just look at the date it was first posted.

Lovely set! Sorry I missed this beautifully photographed set when first published.
I lcve daffodils...they always announce, "Spring has arrived".

Thank you. The ones with sky in the background I had to get down on the ground to shoot, which is difficult at my age. But the rest I found in a raised bed so they were much easier to shoot.

I agree with most of what you say.

The exception is "For me a AI generated image demonstrates neither talent or vision and is worthless". It does take talent, and knowledge, and a vision. Therefore it has worth.

I think the AI generated images that demonstrate the most creativity are the ones with the most detailed descriptions. I have seen some AI images from simple basic text which the AI seemed to add random elements or styles. That might be fun, to see what the AI comes up with, but I think it would be a more personal artistic statement if you go into detail about what you want, and you may have to modify the text until you get what you want.

HA!! I can tell you it is far from perfect.

A while back I watched a video a guy removed some wires using AI. He had a pretty clean skyline with wires in it. I had an image with wires in the sky and there were some trees on the edge of the frame and the wires entered the trees. I tried his step by step instruction on my image. The result was horrible. it placed pieces of wires and trees all over the sky and sky in the trees. A complete mess -> Into the TRASH. I stopped worrying about AI taking over at that point.

The thing about AI is that it keeps getting better. Sometimes using Photoshop generative fill has been less than satisfactory, but when it has worked, which is most of the time, it has been amazing. I used to try the old Content Aware fill (non-AI) and it often gave bad results, but generative fill is a huge improvement.

I'm not sure that they are the ultimate authority on the question. More like a clever title for their show. Isn't a "photographic image" a photograph? They don't give their definition of photograph which excludes photograms. I would favor a definition inclusive enough to include them.

Not at all. Not even close. And I would conjecture that calling a phonogram a photograph is a pretty loose interpretation. But at least photograms are created through an actual photographic process.

Back in the darkroom days, making photograms was more common and every time someone tried to define a photograph as the product of a camera someone would bring up photograms.

Yes, people do photograms every day, therefore Images created by computers from text prompts are the same.

Images created by computers from text don't fit the definition of photography. Photograms do. My point was that a camera isn't a necessary part of the definition of a photograph.

Good thoughts and words, R.G. For me, the simplest approach to keeping this a "photography forum", is for Admin to require that all images posted in any of the photography sections of the Forum must have a photograph as a starting point.

What's a photograph? Any image taken with a camera. We all know what a camera is.....? 🤔

A camera is not necessary to create a photograph. Photograms have always been considered photographs as they fit the classic definition of an image created by the activity of light on a light sensitive material.

How do you post a painting? Only by photographing the painting, then uploading the image.

That is one of those things the rules of the site need to cover - photographs of images done in other mediums. I have seen those posted in Chit Chat.

Well we first have filmless photography then we have mirrorless cameras it's time for cameraless imaging. That is why they said less is more.

We've had cameraless imaging all along - it's called painting, drawing, printmaking. But it's not photography. We have had computer generated imaging since computers were invented. But that's not photography either.

And the OP seems to have stopped posting in 2011, so I don't know who they think they are replying to. She never even came back to respond to this thread.

Thank you Linda. But I really though I was posting the Gallery. Really. Ok, so if I was wrong I was wrong which makes me be more careful. I DID know to post in the Gallery but who knows ????
I do know the Admin fixes these and sends a message of so but I did not receive one ?
Well anyway, I posted and shared a heart felt experience with the group

Sometimes Admin doesn't catch misplaced posts immediately. You can ask Admin to move it using the Report Issue button, or just wait until Admin notices.

I want to add more 'pop' to my blsack & white photographs. The processing program that I use has the sliders for the various colours but once employed they do not impact the images greatly or should I say sufficiently. Would I be better served by purchasing a set of colour filters?
Thank you in advanc e for your consideration of this topic and any responses that you can offer.

Color filters for B&W film are used to lighten or darken specific colors. The don't just automatically add "pop" to a photo. You must determine which colors to lighten or darken to achieve the effect you want. To darken a sky you use yellow, orange, and red to increasingly darken skies. Those Ansel Adams photos with almost black skies were the result of a red filter. Green filters are often used to filter red from skin tones. The same thing applies to post processing filtration. Like others have said, after getting the tones the way you want them you may have to do additional processing to add "pop".

April 14 was our local papers last delivery via paper "boys" it is now going to come in the mail so won't be ready for me to read till the end of the day. Been starting my mornings reading the paper over my cereal and tea for close to 50 years, no more. I chose to go digital, at least the news is not old news by the time I read it. It was a slow death, first they stopped the local press and started coming out of Indianapolis, so suddenly you didn't get the sports from the night before, you get it from two days ago because for them to get the paper printed and down to Bloomington, they go to press too early. They say that instant media is their downfall but when they responded not by figuring out how to get the news sooner, they started taking even longer. Bad business plan.

When I was still working, I had unending problems having the paper delivered before I had to leave for work, which they were supposed to do. I finally canceled delivery and went digital. I found I actually preferred it as it was easier to read from my laptop, and I could make the text larger if needed. I can get the actual newspaper in PDF, and they also send links to the latest news all day.

The bench seat and three on the tree reminds me of a Chevy Impla my father bought in 1965. My mother insisted on a bench seat in front, and my father wanted a standard transmission to teach us kids how to drive. I'm not sure if three on the tree was still available back then, but my father wanted the four on the floor. Usually Chevy used bucket seats with a four on the floor, but my father was able to special order it with the bench seat.

By the way, daily newspapers still exist, but probably not in the Central Missouri Woods.
