Mangelsen is indeed my favorite and to be able to take what he loves to do and turn it into what he has, awesome.
My favorite is Thomas D Mangelsen - check out mangelsen.com
He didn't start out as a photographer, he was a biology major, and studied zoology and wildlife biology. In his study of animal behavior he had to observe them, and naturally, he began taking pictures of them. And, yes, it was his job to observe so he did have all the time needed to be in the right place at the right time to take the right shots. But, as well, he knew enough about the animals to know the right place and the right time of the year to catch them in fantastic shots. Take a look and you'll see why I list him as my favorite.
I am a huge Nikon fan. And I am a fan of the photographer Thomas D Manglesen ; http://mangelsen.com/
What is in his camera bag?
Nikon bodies: two D3Ss, a D3X, and an empty spot for a D4
Lenses: 14-24mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, 200-400mm
A 1.4x and 1.7x teleconverter
600mm (in the Lens Trekker 600 AW II)
When I see his work I am amazed. Nikon vs. Canon? Don't know the answer to that one but I do know Thomas Mangelsens work inspires me and if he is using Nikon then I figure it is good enough for me.
I am long time Nikon owner and am looking to upgrade my camera as it has been a while since I last made a purchase. Without a doubt I will be buying a Nikon. My problem is, which one? The model you are looking at appears to be a very nice unit at a very reasonable price point.
Welcome to the site- nice pics!
Current camera - Nikon D40x...
Here are a few shots - I like landscapes but have lots of other favorites.
