Which is better Nikon or Cannon DSLRs. Looking for picture quality and ease of use.

Is the Nikon D5200 24MP a good buy for price and quality?

Sorry but if you can't spell Canon then I would stick with a Nikon.

The Nikon D5200 is a great camera and is a good buy for price and quality.

Well, of course Nikon is better than a "Cannon". Unless you want to attack something. A Nikon is also better than a Canon, not because it's a true statement, but because I shoot Nikon. If I had purchased a Canon, then Canon would definitely be better than a Nikon.

And, welcome to the forum.

YES, . . . that is at least, if you were referring to a Camera and not a Field Piece.

There seem to be a lot of Nikon & Canon fanatics on the Hog. There is also a vocal minority that favor Sony. When you're selecting a system, handle the bodies you're considering & pick the 1 that "feels" like it fits your hands & the controls are where you would expect them.

The Nikon D5200 is a fine camera. What bothers me is that the megapixel race has gone to far. There are downsides to the ever increasing number of pixels on sensors. Diffraction becomes noticeable at earlier apertures when stopping down the aperture because of the smaller pixels.

Camera shake becomes more noticeable with the smaller pixels. Nikon published a technical guide for the D800 that talks about that over and over again. The D5200 has even smaller pixels than the D800. Do a Google search for D800 technical guide to read about high resolution cameras and camera shake.

Imperfections in lenses stand out more with high resolution sensors.

Canon vs Nikon! The eternal question! Here is the best way to answer that question:
Take a coin from your pocket. A quarter would be good.
Look it over and designate one side Canon and the other side Nikon.
Now, flip it up into the air.
Whichever side lands facing up is the brand you want.
See how easy that was? The end result will be just as good and a whole lot quicker then reading endless Canon vs Nikon replies.

Spelled CANON. Both are really about the same. Depends on your preference. I am a Nikon person

For a Columbia county guy your spot on( I be in Ulster) . How about 4 sided coin to include some of the other reputable cameras? :)
