Mac vs PC
Would like to hear your thoughts, pros and cons of each.
I can not decide what to get next.

Linux is better than both.

In the USA, tipping to service people, like waiters & waitresses, is customary. Your country may vary. My wife and I typically go to a restaurant once or twice a week (even in the age of CORONA). We typically tip 15% or maybe a bit more if the food/service is excellent.

What we've found is a sort of SCAM at many of the restaurants we patronize. The SUBTOTAL is the price of food and drink, and that's what the tip should be based upon. The government tacks on its pound of flesh in the form of 8 1/2% tax in our county. But what the restaurants are doing is adding the SUBTOTAL and the Tax, then using their math to calculate the tip on that. I don't begrudge the government for adding tax, but to pay a tip on that tax is just unconscionable.

In the example, the left side restaurant does their math "for your convenience." My, how convenient is that! For the restaurant on the right side you pay before you sit down, with a screen where you push a button for 15% or 18% or 20% or No Tip. When you push the button for 15% as I did, guess what...they base that tip calculation on Subtotal plus Tax, all unbeknownst to the patron. Not too cool!

So, going forward I will pay now with cash and with the appropriate tip added.

I don’t tip by the cost of food, I tip by the service.

I just got my eyes checked yesterday and the glaucoma checking device was made by Canon.
I had no idea what all they make but this is something that I would never have guessed.
PS, eyes are still perfect thankfully.

Consumer cameras are a small part of what Canon manufacturers.

When I was a kid various tourist spots had a machine into which you could insert a penny and a dime. The machine would flatten the penny and transmogrify it into something advertising the tourist spot. It kept the dime for its efforts.

I actually saw one of these machines somewhere in my travels within the last year. I think it needed a quarter instead of a dime.

There’s probably one at the treasury department if you visit there. 😀😀

I just had my first bad experience with Canon. I was at the beach for a photo surf shoot, and the camera shutter just kept going off. Pulled the battery out to soft reset, no solution. Call Canon service, they tell me the same thing, no solution
They recommend sending the camera in for repair. It will be fixed and I will have a 6 month warranty. I just got it back from being refurbished, fully repaired and perfect in JANUARY! To the tune of $180. Then the see the camera is no longer supported for repair, but they offered $30 off my next purchase through them
I was livid. This is supposed to be a world class company. I expected something more like: We are so sorry to hear about this, let us apply the $180 you have already spent toward your next purchase with us".
The representative did offer a cheaper alternative than new, REFURBISHED, they come with a 6 month warranty. Felt like I have been there and done that

UHH Community - I'm a grandma who has been shooting photos forever, mostly of the kids sporting events and family functions; but, I'll admit I didn't really know what I was doing and got really lucky sometimes. Since retiring a couple of years ago, I've taken some classes at our local community college and now am shooting with my Nikon D7100 and primarily my Tamron 18-400 f3.5-6.3 lens; I'm much more confident shooting in Manual or Aperture priority now.

I've been reading all the comments about crop factor and am wondering if I should be considering crop factor when composing my shots. I tend to get up close and personal and fill my lens viewer with my subject, be it a face or a flower or a building or a bear; but am starting to think that I should not get AS up close and leave some room top/bottom/sides. (I'm pretty good with using Lightroom for PP.)

Am I missing something, misinterpreting what I'm reading, or way off base? Thanks for your help!

Don’t worry about crop factor. What you see in the viewfinder is what you get in the photo.

I use Nikon grips on 4 of my 6 bodies, D7000, D7200, D750, D500, obviously not on my D3s & D5). Selling the first 3 to make room for the 850. Never had an issue with any. With D850 ordered w/grip I'm a bit concerned now and will be following this post.. The popping noise OP stated would be my biggest concern. Certainly sounds like a short.

Sounds like an intermittent open to me.
