The shadows on the house indicate light from above but the sun is behind. And there are no shadows on the cliffs facing away from the sun. I can’t figure it out.

My mistake then - and kudos for well done.
How did you eliminate shadows?
I’m trying to figure out how you were shooting into the sun but I see no shadows on this side of the rocks.
I attended college with Charles’ brother and Charles spoke to our fraternity in about 1973. Very powerful speaker with horrifying stories of while he was held captive.
I did not serve in the armed forces but did watch the movie, The Last Full Measure. It is a powerful movie and very emotional. I can see how it could be too much for someone who experienced it. I do think it is important for those of us who did not experience Viet Nam to understand what those who did went through.
I would recommend both canyons. They are different in that you walk into one and walk down to the other but both have very similar coloring and formations. At Horseshoe Bend you will be on the east rim so the bottom is very dark in the morning. If you have the time go to HB in the morning, then the canyons mid morning to mid afternoon when the sun is overhead, then back to HB in the late afternoon for sunset. The crowds at HB were not a problem.
Catch a grasshopper and toss it onto the web and watch. Fascinating.
I’m getting ready to move. As someone else on the hog remarked, my kids will just throw my old photos away when I die so why hang on to them. I’ve thrown away thousands of slides and negatives. They are predominately landscapes and nature shots and I have no expectation of becoming famous or them having any value to anyone. Therefore, I keep thinking my best photos are ahead of me and the old ones are trash. If I haven’t looked at them in the past several years I seriously doubt I will in the future.
Plessner, I am not usually impressed by the photos I see on UHH (not that mine are any better) but you make the ordinary look extraordinary. I always enjoy your photos and am impressed by your talent.

Thanks.
I didn't think I would like it but find that I do! You have my permission...

Are the great pics I see on UHH done with post processing then? And not with the initial shot with the camera?
Are you shooting raw or jpeg? If raw, they need to be processed. As Linda said, some folks really enjoy the computer time and being creative. And I suspect that many of the really outstanding photos you see have been post processed by a very talented and creative person.
