I appreciate and understand completely your direction of not spending a lot for color correction. Millers is an excellent choice imho.

Even though I have monitor and printer correction tools for important work my go to company is Millers for top quality prinrts. This is with my color correction or not.

An interesting article about equipment aftermath and the eclipse.

https://petapixel.com/2017/09/01/photos-cameras-lenses-got-destroyed-solar-eclipse/

I had mine on live view with a CamRanger and a certified eclipse filter in front of the lens, wifi set up to my iPad. During total eclipse I removed the filter and got a keeper. Not daring enough to capture anything else, as far as I can tell my camera and lens are in 100% shape.

I can just imagine what the sun could do to my stuff if exposed for just a few seconds unfiltered. Reminds me of the magnifying glass with the fire and smoke caused by it during my younger years with the sun and science.

I used an eclipse filter and captured several partials without any issues. During total eclipse I was able to shoot without a filter and shoot this.

My brother reports that motels in Nebraska were going for as much as $300 and are all sold out.

That's full frame, so 300 and up should do the job. IIRC, I filled the frame on film with a 700mm. You may not want to fill the frame with the disk if the corona is especially big

The moon has effectively the same disk size as the sun, so go out at night and shoot the moon to see what works for you.

I've captured the moon with my 500 and a 1.4TC and besides having to track it it didn't fill the frame with my 7DII, good results though with a little crop.

This time for the eclipse I should be in Kearney, NE with just a 5D3 and a 7DII with the 100-400LII and a 1.4TC and a 2TC. Which 77mm eclipse filter would you recommend?

Loads of hidden treasures if you know where to go.

Pioneer Village is one of them. Just a few miles south of I-80 in Minden it's an impressive and huge collection of history memorabilia that could easily take all day to explore.

For the kind of photography I do, I never felt the need to take two cameras. Therefore have never tried or used a dual harness. I have used the Bino/Cam Harness. Since it doesn't touch the neck, but spreads the weight nicely across the back and shoulders, there was never any pain, even after using it a number of hours.

Cool harness you linked. It would be useful for lightweight combos and definitely not a strain on the back of the neck. I guessed that you were referring earlier to the dual harness that Op-Tech makes and was mistaken.

Had a quick look at that website, no wonder they chose that name....
I'll stick with my Op-tech, thank you very much!

Actually if you check the non-leather options that are made with nylon the price comes down considerably.

I've used Op-Tech straps and like them albeit they got a little sweaty working in humid conditions, now much preferring the Think Tank or Domke straps as they're nylon, rubberized and comfortable.

I looked at the Op-Tech dual camera harness and it apears that they've got the weight balance all wrong, same issue that I had with the Think Tanks harness. All the weight is carried towards the front which causes a discomfort from the harness on the back side of the neck. Just my opinion, I'm sure yours will vary.

Hold Fast Money Maker is hands down the best and most comfortable dual camera harness I've ever owned.

Since I have Arca Swiss style L plates on all of my bodies and Arca Swiss style plates and feet on my long lenses I use mini clamps to hook and unhook quickly.

For redundancy I use a couple of safety catch straps.

I avoid using fluids especially around electronics. Use a pencil eraser.
