Very well stated.. Thank you for your comment... But at present.. Here we are on an aircraft carrier loading 500 pound bombs ready to blow up a Toyota with a machine gun in the bed... So we kill 3 out of work soda jerks that are waving the Koran ... What do we do next?
The taking heads don't have it right and neither does the president. We are between two options and both end up with equally problematic decisions. We do nothing and ISIS will rise to be the ruling power in the region, both Syria and Iraq will be one country and the rest of the area will fall, leaving Israel in a horrible position. ISIS will call the shots for Saudi Arabia and Iran will have to take them seriously. Or we can start a new war that can't be won. Where we once again cross the ocean to kill Muslims .. As I guarantee you that's all it is to the people in the region. You are not going to get Muslims to kill other Muslims, they will throw their arms down and turn around and walk back to coffee shop from where they were recruited in the first place. The Iraq army has already done exactly this. They will not fight ISIS. The problem is, there is no nationalism in this part of he Arab world, you have religiousism . There is no pride in country, no aspect of trust, or willingness to protect the values and interests of the state. Ask a US soldier why he joined, you will hear words like "I love my country," and " I want to protect my country. ". If you are fighting for your God, Allah, or what ever deity you want to mention, you are not fighting for the state, you are not protecting a nation, you are protecting a faith. If you believe fervently that your cause is higher than those of the state, your allegiance is to that God and if you are asked to take arms to fight other believers the questions that are asked as you raise the rife, are will my God forgive me, is this the right thing to do, if I die fighting those that are fighting on the side of God, will I not get the seven virgins, will Allah not grant me eternal salvation. So here we are, do we fight or not, which side of a bad decision do we sit on. Question, is there a Kurdish sword as an answer?

A marvelous image that supports all the aspects of a winning photograph.
My view      for the image - for the presentation -   the border draws my eye away from the subject and yes this is a proper composition and should be framed as presented with out the white.
I presented the print to the family that helped me set up the shot and they were blown away as well. They are going to have it framed professionally and installed. Once that is done ..just for grins i will take a photo of the final installation and share it here.
Next months theme is travel, I have an idea for this which I hope will turn out as,well.
Again thank you thumbs up are very encouraging.
It was part of the over all image .. Plan.. The sun coming through the top... It was an experiment that the judge also had a question with.. But here's what he said.. Sometimes when you break the rules .. It works... And in this photo it works .. He said I would rather be lucky than good.. But you you make your own luck. And thanks to all for your kind comments.. It was an evening I will remember for a long time... The talent in this group is outstanding.. And to be included at least once.. Is a real good feeling.
Thank you .. Your comments are very much appreciated.
I have been part of the Atlanta Photographic Society for almost a year. Each monthly meeting we have a judged competition in three categories, digital, Black and white print, and color print. This months theme was "The Entertainer". Up until last evening, I had not won even third honorable mention. but my color print image titled, "Evening Pasture in C Minor" blew the judge away, my first award was for FIRST place. A very wow, evening
I took the Image with my Olympus E-M10, mirrorless camera, kit lens, the image is 90% out of the camera! some post processing, but nothing is pasted in. I took the shot of the sky the next day from a moving car with my wife's new Samsung phone, and then added it to the image,
I knew it!
I bet you could make a. Wonderful picture book .. If it has not already been done .. Of either the exact locations.. Or ones that look like them .. And you would have an apt audience.
Come on.... Nobody said anything about travling to Hogworts. I am sure at least one of them would deliver you there. Fun shots.
I have the em 10 ask any question you would like to... Search my photos on here and you can see for your self the quality, and the high resolution. The watch picture really shows that well. I still think the reviews are biased, and forget it's a price comparison too. You have to believe that a $2000 dollar body is going to be better then a 600 dollar camera. But he 10 has some of the same features that a $2k camera has. Let m know if I can help.
Just a quick update .. I received the rebate Amex card today.. Preloaded with 300.00. How sweet a deal is that.. Now if I can just print something decent.... I have to shoot something decent first...hope,all you were successful in getting your rebate too.
As you will see there are many opinions.. And everybody thinks their choice is best... And for the most case .. It's true.. For them. I own a E-M10 .. And I have been very pleased. It's a very fun camera, as it is FULL of features, the reviews on the camera, all if them,, are just not detailed enough, as it would be impossible in their limited space to tell the full story. For the money it's a really a great deal. In camera stabilization, art filters galore, many options for HDR, I can use all my old lenes with adaptor, options for focus including peak, good resolution, remote I phone or iPad view and control, high speed shooting, and I am still learning the camera. I too think that mirrorless is the future, and it will only get better. I have heard from several high level pros that have made the switch and will not go back.
I too think we should listen to those that have devoted their professional career to scientific research in comparison to right wing radio. My job has taken me into the labs and offices of those that have studied the issue from a number of directions. The issue that global warming is real is settled fact in the scientific community, there is no discussion at all, if it is real. There is no discussion as to human involvement that too is settled fact. How fast it is happening, what to do about it, how to mitigate its affects, that's still open for discussion. Want an eye opening view of the complications ..look up atmospheric solar based chemical decomposition. What is happening in that realm is what should concern everybody. My two cents.
Look forward,to the images you can share with both cameras.. The 10 has been very good, for me, I just need to the tke the time and opportuntiy to take it out more. ..and shoot.
Thanks to all who offered assistance.
In PSE there is a command for resize, and you have a choice between canvas and the image. The canvas is the size of the paper, once you set these up, and then bring up the print command or the Canon print pro software, you can then print a 2x3 image on a 8x10 sheet should you desire. I am still figuring out the intricacies of digital printing, no awards yet.. Lol
Thanks I will look at the red river site. Also read some other tutorial. And it may help too.. Will try and do some work on it this after noon.
