Yeah, I'm old enough that I remember 3.1 and 95. And I'm 72.

yeah, me too.

I wasn't until Win95 that the computers did enough to make me want one. Win 3.1 and the DOS machine's didn't do enough to make me want them, although we used a 3.1 machine at work, using wordperfect for reports, and they worked fine for reports.

There are a bunch of us out here that will know this one.
And there will be some younger up-starts who are clueless.

My first was win95 v-1

Win 98 v-1 was after I had the full version of win95 installed. And then, Win98 v-2 was the best of the 98's.

But my all time favorite was XP.

Way back (in the 70's) on the am radio in my car, there was a thing about Karen that they were talking about. Seems that one of her music teachers told her she didn't have a voice. I learned later that most successful, talented people get this same thing.

I have both Nikons - D850 and D500 but find I use the D500 very little and I'd like comments from Hoggers who have and use both, about the advantages of one over the other. I also have a Df which can use the older D (screw drive) lenses and a Zfc which offers lightweight and a crop sensor.

Lens availability, variety, and reach. Weight. 21mp vs 45mp. 4 image ratio's vs 1 to choose from. Faster MPS.

I need the user manual for the Canon Powershot S60, NOT to be confused with the SX60.

Thanks

Does anyone here have a copy of Canon's user manual for the Powershot S60?

Canon is wiping out a lot of user manuals for lord knows how many manuals for camera's a couple of years old on their web site.

Thanks Ernie

A unique style became the rage for her Basso Nova recordings in the 60's. Stan Getz, supreme saxophone artist, made several albums accompanying her. Many of her recordings were authored by the incredible composers, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Joao Gilberto.

Here's a full album of some of her repertoire.

Hey Mark

Both were in a cheesy 60's Movie "Get Yourself a College Girl" where she sings "Girl from Ipanema" That is where I first became aware of them.

I am old fashioned. I use first a camels hair brush to remove dirt. I hold the lens upside down as I brush. I use Kodak Lens cleaner wet on Kodak lens tissue. Then repeat with dry lens tissue to dry. However most of my lenses have a quality UV filter and that is what gets cleaned. The glass is virgin from new.

Yes. The first thing I do when I buy a new lens is put a UV filter on it for protection, and against dirt/dust contamination.

Years ago, while buying a video camera, the salesman almost made it mandatory to put a UV filter on the lens for it's protection. I've done it ever since.

I was sent a video clip regarding a discussion a Charles Kirk was having in an interview on why we need Trump.

https://youtu.be/focODnV4qC8

I was mostly struck with the fact that I'm a little guy, paying bills & trying to make ends meet, while his discussion was primarily regarding the Washington fat cats who rise to the top and make our lives....Whatever.

His facts are seemingly solid, and makes sense from my vantage point.

I'd like to see what everyone here has to say.

And if you disagree, I'd like to have facts why, not just "It's BS".

I'd like to have the same solid argument for the other side too.

Either way, here is something to share in the group.

Camera companies tightly control the distribution of their cameras and lenses globally, including price control. A gray market camera did not enter the United States (or any other country) through these channels but was imported by some other distributor and often sold at a discount.

The problem with this is that you do not know where your gray market camera or lens has been. So it could be refurbished rather than new, or the product may have a flaw. You may pay less, but you buy at your own risk.

This is why it is important to buy only from authorized and reputable vendors--your local camera store or retailers like B&H and Adorama. I don't trust Amazon anymore because they often use vendors who sell questionable products and even knockoffs.

None of the companies honor the warranties on these cameras and lenses, and some, like Nikon, won't even repair them if you pay them.

I'm curious as to the problems you may have had, or know about regarding Amazon. I assume that you refer to used camera's, Not New. thanks

Why you may asked “....last camera “ I’m 82 years old and I don’t plan to replace the Canon 90D camera I’m about to received. I was working for a Time-share company around the middle of 1990 taking pictures of new buyers for promotional reasons. We used Nikon 35mm cameras, take photos of those people developing them and paste them on some colorful paper backgrounds. But since we needed time to process them many buyers didn’t come back the next day to get them. Out of the blue a company from Canada introduce as to a digital system about the year of 1998 , it was a Nikon camera N8008 on the top of a Kodak DCS 200 pack with a digital hard drive of about 2 MP sensor priced $ 10.000 it had a memory card the size of a cigarette pack and weight around 7 Lbs. Lens, printer, photo paper and a photo program that allow as to impress the buyers and the Time-shares company that paid an amount of money equal of the price of a car. This was my best job of my entire working life. Since then I bought my own first digital camera a Fugifilm 6900Z that is still inside the original box. I had several Canon 35mm and digital cameras since then. Few weeks ago I had posted asking some of your opinions about buying a good digital camera on this wonderful HG forum and the results help me to buy this Canon camera 90D with a Nano 18-135mm lens. I hope I didn’t bore you and I’m running to the front door because I think it’s the UPS delivery person.

When I try to discuss the long list of African Americans murdered by police officers, my conservative friends immediately change the subject to officers killed in the line of duty or black kids shooting black kids. Those are important but separate issues. Racism in our police forces obviously exists and should be recognized. Black Republican Senator Tim Scott was stopped by police 7 times in one year. Have any of the white readers of this post been stopped by police 7 times in a year? Our country will never be great no matter who is president if we can't find a solution for systemic racism in police forces and in our society.

Although Racism is another form of hate, it should not be tolerated in any police force in America. IMHO, it's impossible to eliminate hate in America, but we could eliminate it in our police.

It's the responsibility of the frontline police supervisors, managers, and administrators, to police the police, and remove problem officers. In Minneapolis, I guarantee you, that the supervisors and up, knew about the problems with these officers, but did nothing about it. Why? Some of it is lack of procedural knowledge, some is lack of support in the chain of command, and some of it is the blue line, the fear of being labeled.

The real problem is at the top, in the form of not disciplining and demanding the proper conduct within the ranks of the force. The chief's and command staff should demand, and follow up the demand within the ranks, the proper demeanor and conduct that's acceptable. The chief's, dep chief's, commanders, captains, lieutenants, and sergeants should know their respective subordinates, who's good, who's weak, and the problem children in their respective units. There should be no hesitation to act when an officer or whoever, needs disciplinary action. But frequently, this doesn't happen, for a number of reasons. And the Mayors, Governors, or heads, should be in constant contact with the leaders of the police force going over any issues that may exist. And demanding that everyone do their jobs properly.

And there are proper ways to supervise a unit, things the supervisors should be doing, but that's another issue.

Take Minneapolis as the example, the officer involved was known to be a problem, disciplined I believe 18 times, and yet he was still allowed to patrol the street. Minneapolis apparently didn't know how to discipline this officer. Or couldn't. In the event of lack of knowledge, or lack of courage, that particular officer should have been riding a desk, or other function, where he wouldn't of been able to harm anyone. But that didn't happen. The result, a man lost his life, the family will own a good piece of Minneapolis, and the taxpayers will be footing the bill for the failure of their elected leaders to properly run things.

And when no one in power performs their duty properly, we have at a minimum, major discontent in the electorate. And the protests and rioting.

And for whatever reason, some of the do nothing political leaders keep getting re-elected. But not always!, and not all of them have this problem!
