Wow those look fantastic. I dont think pictures do it justice. Nice captures tho, and why not my guess is the last one it seems to have detail loss. Might be me tho.

To my surprise, I got a really great picture of the Indian on the Horse with my cell phone camera. Most of the others I took with it were not as sharp.

Every year in Fairbanks, AK the World Ice Carving Contest is held in Feb-Mar. The results produce great photos. Of the two photos below, one was take with my cell phone camera. Can you tell which one? The Tiger was the Chinese entry that won best in show in 2012. The Indian was the single block winner in 2013. The mermaid is also a great sculpture. Pictures at night are best because of the lighting they use to show them off.

Seem to have lost the attachments - will repost them below.

I was on an Alaska Airlines flight and the pilot saw how resplendent the mountain was, so he dropped down and did an 270 degree fly around at peak level. I took a series of pictures out the window with a Sony DSC 100. Here are a couple more.

As an Alaska resident for the past several years, I still have not gotten any really good wildlife pictures anything near as good as these. Great Job. Looks like you had some sunshine while there. I recently posted this picture of the mountain, in case you missed it.

Dear Laskalass

In response to your question, I am not a professional photographer, and any photos I put on-line are in the public domain and anyone is free to use them any way they want, including selling them I suppose. I take thousands of pictures and a few are worth showing off. I put them up on this site because I enjoy getting people's reactions.

As a world traveler, I try to keep a camera ready at all times, including riding in boats, buses or just walking. I caught this shot of the girl in the red hat as her boat passed in the opposite direction from the tour boat in Cambodia. The color and her expression make this one of my best ever people pictures. I usually keep the camera in the "sports mode" to stop action, and get sharp pictures of moving objects as a result. Taken with a Sony DSC.

I posted a photo earlier under "My favorite picture of the year" and based on the positive feedback, I am posting a few more.
The Alaska Airline pilot saw how spectacular the light was on the clear mountain top, and dropped down to peak level and flew about 270 degrees around the top at fairly close range. Rules are often overlooked in Alaska. The show was spectacular and I got a number of great pictures with a Sony DSC through the thick airplane window. I was very surprised with the quality given those conditions.

The Alaska Airlines pilot dropped down and flew around the top of the mountain and I had a window seat and got many good photos with a Sony DSC. I like this one best. It was the #1 photo on the Fairbanks Daily News Miner website "My Best Photo" page for a full week.

Took this in Vietnam with about 20x zoom on a Sony DSC 5. Reflection looks like smoke from the cigarette and got the exhale. Couldn't see any of this when I framed the picture.
