Thanks, I love them too. I was hoping to see some this winter, but I haven't yet, although I heard several reports of them being around the SE Michigan area. It's just been so bitter cold that I haven't been out looking for them lately. Hopefully I will get one before they return north.
Took a shot of this Snowy owl here in Michigan last February, I was amazed that it was comfortable perching in the tree above me and a friend of mine who took me to that area where this bird was sighted.
Awesome capture. I agree, I think that's a Cooper's hawk (aka sparrow hawk in other parts of the world) with a coot. I didn't know coots were on the menu for them.
Thanks guys, this is a real old photo that's about 2 years maybe 3 years old now. Since then I have greatly improved my photography, and gear. I have no idea how to delete this image, but I will be happy to show one of my latest shots.
Yes you did, Sarge. The changes between your first image and the one I modified are subtle. I wanted you to see how less is more when it comes to post processing. Your original picture required very little tweaking, and I think the second one you submitted; shows there is a bell curve where the quality of a photo drops off the more it's altered from it's original form.
Naw. The Nikon P510 Bridge doesn't have RAW. But I'm learning more and more of it's great features as I play around the area with it.

Do you shoot in RAW format? It gives you more flexibility on post processing.

Here is a blue heron I got last summer with a Nikon D3100 and 55-300mm zoom.
