all three are good the bird is my favorite. using diagonal lines strengthens an image, the position of the bird is unique, his face is adorable. only nit to pick is I wish there was more to see of the otherside of his face. Riverboat I also liked, the sepiatone gives it a nostalgic touch. The gorilla shot has an interesting face. I dont do portraits however I liked yours. For some reason i keep hearing charleton Heston's voice in my head shouting"get your filthy paws off me you dirty ape!!!!"

Thanks for your critique! I couldn't get that darn bird to turn for a better shot...lol. I love my gorilla and have him as my logo on my credit card...I tell them it's my hubby! As for the riverboat I was walking along the Mississippi and took the shot but thought it would look better as a vintage "feel". Again thanks!

Hi Gena, love all three pictures. They are outstanding!

Is the parakeet somebody's pet that escaped or does he/she belong to you? Quite the charming bird...

I like vintage art also, and your riverboat is very attractive with this treatment.

Oh by the way, our husbands look alike, they must be related. Just kidding!

Here I am sitting at my computer when I need to be doing other things. Silly computer just keeps calling my name...Jan

No Jan the bird is from the Cheyenne Mtn Zoo...great zoo by the way, alot of free roam critters! Maybe they are related ....the hubby's I mean. If you have Photoshop, vintage makes some pictures really great! Thanks so much for looking and liking! :)

great pics,,the 1st is my fav..love the angle..#3 has a little bit of black in the bottom left corner, that in my humble opinion could go away and not hurt the pic at all.

#1 - I love it. However, the poor fella needs some room at the top of his head, and perhaps a little sharpening. The angle is great. I do see by your comments that it was not a case of cropping too close. There are ways to extend the photo so that he does have more space. I have included an example of how you can do that. I have not done a great job as I don't want to spend too much time on it. You extend the canvas. I took a color from the background. Then, very carefully, you clone around the head. Then you can crop, leaving room around his head.

#2 - I love the treatment.

#3 - I am not sure about the brightness of the white spot. Your friend certainly does look pensive. He could use some catch lights in his eyes. Also, you do need to learn (as do I) how to select him without cutting his hair into a crew cut. It is obvious that he was placed on the background.

These are just my reactions. I am by no means an expert. Have a great day!

Your riverboat picture is my favorite. Very well done, an interesting subject and the sepia makes it special.

The riverboat is nicely done. Gorilla looks like a cutout glued to a backgound.
