someone must have told them about it ahead of time...
Of course. DuPont knew they had to have it because the patent was running out. It's my understanding that a ship load of Freon was on it's way from China. The ship had to be turned around as it was illegal in the U.S. It can still be purchased in Mexico.
I was working for the Nissan truck plant in Smyrna, TN when the change over from Freon to 134A came about. It had to be done before midnight December 31, 1994. Interestingly, that was the exact moment that DuPont's patent ran out on Freon. At the same time, Al Gore, had been preaching about the dangers of Freon on the climate. It just so happened, DuPont had 134A ready to go. Quid Pro Quo?
To the good list of places to shop, Adorama, B&H, etc. I would add Crutchfield in Virginia for Nikon, Canon and Sony.
I bought my D-750 in June of '15 because of the low light capabilities and articulating screen. it's a fantastic camera. I photograph children with Santa at my VVA chapter's, "Operation Santa Clause". The live view, tilting screen, is a definite plus with the external shutter release.
You can't go wrong purchasing the D-750.

Have you used any DX lens on this camera?
No, I have not. Used FX lenses only on it.

It looks pretty nice. So did you replace this with another body? What is the shutter count?
I took the photos with a D-750 and purchased a D-500. I checked the shutter count at 899.
The D-610 and the MB D-14 are not gray market. I originally bought a D-600 and the MB D-14 from Crutchfield. After having spots show up, the D-600 it was sent to Nikon and the shutter was replaced. When the spots showed up again, the camera was replaced by Nikon with this D-610.
D-610 Body only
MB D-14 battery pack. Sorry I didn't save the box on this item.
2 David Busch books on the D-610
$995 for all. Buyer pays the shipping. I do have a PayPal account. PM if interested.
Your photo is called a field cross. Well taken. Thanks for posting.

Nikon has instant rebates from time to time. There's supposed to be another discount period starting on black Friday, November 25. You get a free battery grip with the purchase of a D500 or D810.
Thanks for the tip, CO. That might be worth waiting for since the battery grips are around $450.
Usually, when Nikon does a price drop it means an upgraded camera is coming out. Has anyone heard anything about an upgraded D-500 in the offing?
I bought a new D-600 when they first came out. It started having spots, so I called Nikon. They said to send it in and they replaced the shutter. I had gotten a new 24-70 lens and posted the photo. One hogger came back and said there were spots in the sky. So, I contacted Nikon again, sent in the required photo and in two days customer service called saying send the body only. Nikon replaced it with a new D-610. It now has, as of 3 days ago, 890 shutter clicks.
Would like to sell my D-610 and get a D-500.
