Thanks for all the posts. The "soft water" for me is now so far on the back burner it fell on the floor. If a tripod/camera setting is needed....a "soft water" pick is not needed. I never worked on a car....either it starts or not/....never drove a manual trans...either it has auto or I walk/lived at my place for 7 years...never used the stove oven....either the food works in the microwave or I don't eat. In other words....life is too short to go through the hassel of setting up a tripod/setting a camera hoping I can MAYBE set it back to where it was...and not getting the desired pics on my RMNP trip. At 68...the car/camera/microwave/pc/tv/trac phone stays on auto. Besides....God made auto for a reason....

To the op. You need a tripod MORE than you need a nd filter. Often times when in a deep and shady woods, where water falls often live, an iso of 100 and a f stop of maybe 11 will give you a fairly long "shutter speed", "time value". No need for a nd filter.

And how it compares with other "bare bulb" flashes, such as the quatum Q flash, probably the most expensive, and the other less expensive brands.

This August I will be in the shadow of the annular eclipse. I have read that with a total eclipse you don't need a solar filter during the totality of the eclipse, is this true also with an annular eclipse? Is a ND filter sufficiant? The sheets of solar filter paper seem cheaper than a screw on, is there a way to make that work? Thanks.

I use "Baader Astrosolar" safety film. A 8x11 inch or so does not cost a whole lot of money and you will have enough material to make several filters for your camera, binoculars and eclipse viewing glasses.

Does anyone know if there is a way to connect a camera to a computer or laptop, so I can view a picture I just took without downloading. Sometimes its hard to tell if I have it focused sharp enough, even when I magnify it. I went through the instructions and couldn't find anything. I have a Canon 5D3 and 7D2 if that matters.

You can tether shoot with your canon cameras easy enough, the shots will show on your computer in moments, but in order to see ANYTHING on a computer it must be downloaded to it.

I'm not printing them myself. I'm sending it to one of the greeting car printers, using their format. It will be about 5 separate pictures on one of their templates.
The pictures I have are my children & grandchildren in street clothes. Just looking to Christmas each picture up.
Thanks for your generous offer though.

If you are sending them out to be printed, the print companies have all sorts of templates for you to use.

Happy Thanksgiving, I hope you all have a safe and great day.
When you search STOCK SITES here on UHH not a lot of info comes up.
Ive been staying away from stock sites. Thinking making a few cents on a photo isn't worth my time.
Then last night I was reading a book about the photography business.
The guy asked this question. How much is Facebook paying you for posting your pictures?
Of course it nothing, and that struck a nerve. Then when I think back to my favorite Photography instructor
he mentioned that 15 to 20% or his yearly gross comes from stock sites.
So I guess I'll give it a try.

My question is, are you putting photos on stock sites?
Are you making money and if so how much a month?
What sites do you use and what sites do you stay away from?

any help pointing me in the right direction is much appreciated.

I have a handful of photos (130 something) in some now called "micro stock" sites. I may make a sale about one every other day. A quarter here a quarter there, after a wile it ads up to a couple bucks:)

Back in "the day" a photographer could make some extra coin from selling stock. But now with micro stock everybody is a photographer. Stock companies get gazillions of photos daily, diluting the stock pool. In order to get a photo approved it must be properly lit, focused, tilted and key worded. This all takes time but it has made ME a better photographer. ShutterStock is my best seller and is probably the most EZ to up load to.

Give it a try, have fun, Make some quarters:) Best of luck to you
