Ray-O-Vac replaced (paid current price) on 2 items I sent to them which were damaged by leaking batteries.
Other brands probably will also.

I am wondering if someone out there can provide information on repair of a Yougnou 560III speed light. I left batteries in it and it resulted in a very small amount of corrosion inside the battery cover. I used a wire brush and baking powder to clean the contact but it still does not power up. The speed light is only a few months old. Can it be repaired or do I just toss it and buy a new one and make sure I remove batteries after each use if it is going to sit for a while?

Processors in the same family can vary a lot in performance.
I always refer to this benchmark when shopping for a laptop or building a desktop computer.

If the search doesnt find your model try entering part of the name.

Hi, all. I just loaded up Faststone on a tip here on UHH. It's working great but I have a question. Just last week my main Asus I7 laptop went down with a HDD failure. Lost some good work on the drive that I hadn't backed up yet. I'm now using an I5 in it's place until I decide what to replace it with. I'm converting 20 mb Olympus raw files to 90% quality jpegs of about 2 mb size in about 4 to 4.5 seconds. Since I don't have the better processor to compare can anybody tell me if they're using Faststone for similiar work? Just curious if a faster machine would do these conversions in 2-3 seconds? It might not seem like much of a difference but it would be on files of 500-600 pics.
I automatically look at Intel I7's but I would like to know if anybody's using a high end AMD machine. Thanks in advance...

Capacitors can release energy slowly just like a battery.
It depends on the load. Small load, slow release.

It would be a great advance! However, we have long had capacitors that store much more power than a battery can and that can be recharged far more quickly than a battery. That's not really the problem. The problem is that capacitors are devices that, by their nature, discharge their power quickly, in a very short burst, rather than slowly, over a long period of time--like batteries do. Until someone finds a way to make capacitors discharge their energy slowly--over a period of hours or days, instead of a fraction of a second-- capacitors will not be useful as a battery replacement.

I can remember seeing the cover of one of my dads popular mechanics magazine featuring a car powered by a flywheel.
Seems like it was depicted in the trunk and about the size of a spare tire. This was late 60's?

Another technology that's been suggested as an alternative to a battery is a fly-wheel. I have to guess that this and the super-capacitor are still experimental ideas that are still pretty distant from production.

A green laser is much more visible to the human eye.

This, application of a laser, is an "here is an Idea roll with it" idea and not an ether/or device. It was to foster thinking about applying "other technologies" to photography.[/quote=dpullum]

Can anybody recommend a printer that can print 4 by 6 and is economical on ink? Must be portable and be able to print on site.
My photosmart hp gives me about 75 pictures of 4 by 6, but goes through the whole ink, and the cartridges cost about 45.00 to replace. HELP!!!!

Norton = Worst software ever written.
Made my desktop computer virtually stop.Avoid like the plague.

I have been using Avira free for years, no major problems.
There other good free AV out there.

As with anything you download, pay attentention during the install and uncheck the extras and toolbars.

I also use malwarebytes
http://www.malwarebytes.org/downloads/

And superantispyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/

Always download from the official site, or a good mirror site like bleepingcomputer.com or majorgeeks.com

Just about every real site has 1 or more spoofed sited trying to lure you in.

G,
In 8.1 you can make it boot straight to the desktop like Win 7.
Lots of other tweaks, just google what you want to do.
http://www.google.com/search?q=8.1+boot+to+desktop

Classic Shell brings back the start orb.
http://www.classicshell.net/ . its free

I just built a new computer:
Asus Z87 Pro mother board
i7-4770 CPU @ 4.2 GHZ
Samsung Pro 256 GB SSD
WD 1 TB Hard drive
16 GB ram
Asus GTX660 video card......

It rocks.
Boots to desktop in 16 seconds :-D

The OP was talking about THIS country, not OTHER countries. Your argument is invalid.
In this country some of the strictest gun control areas have the highest crime rates. Like Detriot, Chicago, DC etc...

While areas with little on no gun control have the lowest.

Can you guess why Kennesaw, GA has a near zero crime rate???

"The town is noted for its unusual gun legislation. In 1982 the city passed an ordinance [Sec 34-21][18]

(a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect
the safety, security and general welfare of the city
and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.

(b) Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability
which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads
of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine,
or persons convicted of a felony.

"In 2011 California was named the state with the strongest gun control laws.
Can you guess which state had the highest number of gun murders in 2011 ???? Coincidence???

Today, Washington, D.C. still has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. And yet again, the gun murder rate
remains dramatically high, the highest in the United States per 100,000 people."

Look at the facts !! Google "gun control vs crime rate"

You can't argue with facts....let me rephrase that, an intelligent person can't argue with facts.

Hammers kill more people than guns do, yet I dont hear anyone whining about hammer control, or concealed hammer permits
