Use D750.

Sometimes I shoot interesting interactions among my grandchildren or particular travel sites and then often don't get to doing an album for a year or so. By then I can't remember the specifics of a shot needed to add text in the album.

Any ideas about how to easily capture rough comments on shots that can be called up when doing an album later?

thanks

You can create a folder on your camera for that specific shoot. All the photos will be stored in that folder, if you change locations you can either create a new folder or save to the standard folder etc. Nikon also allows you to add notes on the file in camera. Granted this is PIA . But it may help until you offload and create an album.

Almost every train was covered inside and out in the 80's and for a good part of the 90's. Some were very fearless and did the sides of bridges.

I heard it from a friend, who heard it from a friend, who heard it from a friend, that knows the uncle's cousins roommates mechanics daughter of a guy that works for Nikon that in about 10 years all cameras will be custom built to order and will be named after the original purchasers grandfather's mothers first pet.

Years ago someone told my father that his trade was a dying trade. He was an automobile mechanic. He was told that with the addition of the computer systems in cars he was going to be put out of work.

I'm sure when the first Polaroid instamatic camera came out someone thought this is the end of photography. As technology changes one must adapt and change, roll with the times if you will. In today's world what was once a dark room is now a program called Photoshop and Lightroom. Business is business if you opened a mechanic shop it make take minutes or weeks for the first customer to walk in the door. Granted some people are successful in spite of themselves , but with some hard work , determination and skill the odds are on your side. I personally know a young up and coming photographer. He started working for an agency shooting horse races. This made him enough money to better his equipment. With better equipment and learned talent he was given a corporate team contract . His career has been furthered along with time , determination, skill and patience. There tons of people out there that get mentioned on this sight on a daily basis . Every one has to start some place. Perhaps a new photographer going into business for his or herself should not quit their paying job for a while that may be true. But if I went out tomorrow and had to take a loan out to buy an existing business perhaps I may need another source of income coming to make ends meet also.

Can't means won't. So if you approach any situation with a I can't attitude you won't get any where.

Another of UHH members' favorite stores, KEH in Georgia, is offering two very gently used D500 models: one for $1,759 and the other (in "like new" condition) for $1,779. If the dealer that offered you multiple 'bundles' happens to be Cameta, they are also definitely on the 'approved' list as very reliable and offering great customer service and longer warrantees on used gear. /Ralph

I have purchased many items from Cameta mainly inside the store. They also honor their warranty . Highly recommend them.

Not sure if you register your equipment with Nikon and I'm not sure if you know when the equipment was originally purchased. But if it is under warranty Nikon will fix it for free. Even if I had to pay I would rather have Nikon fix it than someone else.

I think a few things play a large role in this.
(1) When some of the equipment was purchased the person bought either what they could afford or what they were talked into. I have witnessed sales people push items on new camera buyers and out right lie about what the lens is and what it does.
(2) People wake up one day and decide I love birds or what ever and need a lens for this. Than come to find out they hate shooting that subject or it's too heavy etc.
(3) They never learned how to use what they currently own.
Every so often I take one of my primes out and force myself to just at that fixed focal length. Does that make me better or worse than anyone else? No but it does force me learn or remember how to frame and compose. I do try to sell the lens I no longer need or have duplicates of.

The problem is we allow knock offs to be sold and people buy them. Before you even get into the electronics end of this look at women's hand bags. A new Michael Kors purse is a few hundred dollars , yet minus a label on the inside and I'm sure not built as well you can pick up one for $20 . The list goes on and on. I see it with power tools all the time. Some companies now go as far using the same /Very similar paint scheme as the more expensive company. People who either don't know or don't care get sucked right in.

While I am sure there many in this group that come from other countries, I do believe we owe it to our respective countries to buy as much stuff as we can from our home country. I watched the news the other night and for simple school supplies for kids going back to school they could only find 8 of 11 items on the list manufactured in the USA. I'm sorry but that is sad these are low technology items.

I apologize if I have taken this in another direction but I believe it runs deeper than other countries simply stealing and or copying items.

I am shopping for a reliable, long-lasting, reasonably priced, Speedlite Flash for my Nikon D3300 Camera.
While reading descriptions, I encountered the term, "Rear Curtain Sync", Please explain to this Newbie exactly what this means! Thank you.

Rear Curtain sync fires the flash at the end of the frame as the rear curtain begins to close. Instead of as the first curtain opens.
The link below will show you examples of its use. But as suggested you may want to do some other reading on its uses.

You're out of your mind if you think I am going to check a poster's profile and his/her other postings in an effort to discern what equipment they may own. Or may be you're just out of your mind regardless.

Amen on that

Looking for advice on how to capture or enhance golden hour lighting in landscapes. I usually have my camera on auto WB which may be trying to cancel out the orange light I am trying to capture. What is the best WB setting? Just warming it up in PP is not giving me that golden glow I am after. I take a lot of shots involving salt marshes. It pretty hard to find a balance between the golden light and the green grass. I have had some success through experimentation, but would appreciate some advice.
I shoot in RAW and use ACR for PP. Any PP tips appreciated.

I use an expo disk to get my white balance set . I have found that when shooting golden hour photos under exposing by a stop is sometimes needed.

Would like to find a camera that is great at fast focus and low light. Taking pictures of grand children is all different settings. Not worried about cost. Thanks for advice!

Following the not worried about cost I would say the Nikon D5. Pair that with a fast glass and your good to go. The D5 has outrageous useable high ISO capability and is incredible in low light. The auto focus and tracking capability is awesome.

I'm not sure if your camera allows you to do this, but on some cameras you can rename files as you take them. And the file names will follow.
